Monsoon Flooding in Thailand: Where's My Jet Ski?
Again and again the road lead us right into a new lake, if I could only transform my bike into an amphibious motorbike jet ski combo. All the photos below were taken roadside, so you can just imagine how over and over again we had to make a decision if the water was too deep to pass on our motorbike or we'd have to find another way. Fortunately the Thais had more confidence that myself, and didn't mind just winging it while we watched. One time an overconfident Thai went for it, they ended up driving right into deep water. They had to get off their bike in waist deep water and struggled to push their flooded bike to shallower water. The following week Tow-trucks were hauling off submerged vehicles for repair all over the island. Now come have a look at these wild monsoon flood waters here in Koh Phangnan Thailand.
Large swaths of land were just suddenly underwater.

You can see how the road is up higher than the land next to it. It was really interesting to see how the roads were designed to have rainwater run off of them. But it was far more interesting to see this design stretched to to it's limits.

Just a couple of inches, we passed through no problem.

I don't think this is good for the corn, but I'm no farmer.

People living here are having a tough go of it.

Another flooded field, this one's extra muddy!

Like an island house or something.

The water is about to push right into the bridge.

I think you pasted twice .... but that's OK!!! The pics are worth looking at twice.
When I saw the picture of the corn, I can remember my grand-dad saying "Corn doesn't like wet toes". So, hopefully the water will recede quickly before any permanent damage happens to those crops.
Oh shoot, just noticed that. I ll see if I can fix it. Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it was a wild few days even for the corn!
