A Day in the Life of Adult ADD
It's a good day today. Several meetings have just been cancelled and I can get a jump on the day. What should I do first?
What's on the agenda:
- A Jira task to complete Jira integration. Seems self-referential.
- Need to figure out why ssh to my k8s pod isn't working when it is working. That... hurts my brain to think about.
- Oh, large project with little support needs some tlc, too.
No one is complaining about any of these, so where to start? Hmmm. I guess I'm left to my own devices. Lemme think...
I'll think about this while making a coffee, but the path upstairs is taking my right by three stacks of records that need to be organised and placed into albums.
Aw man, I need to finish recording four more songs for tomorrow night's Friday Night Concert.
And that reminds me that I need to reposition the microphones in front of the phonographs. I need to get them off the floor; they're taking up too much space.
It sure would be nice if I could get that tabletop Columbia working. I wonder if I have a different motor I could put in it.
I really need to advertise Blind Skeleton more. I suck at self-marketing. Reminds me (not sure why), I still have some lego to make. @bliss11 sent me a lego set for Christmas that still hasn't been opened.
Maybe I could do a little bit of that while thinking of which work project to start first. That'd give me a reason to post again in @galenkp's lego community. I'm so far behind there, they've probably forgotten about me. I need to be better.
Oh goddammit, @wesphilbin is talking about bacon again. Now I'm hungry. I haven't had breakfast yet. I need coffee.
Finally made it upstairs. The cat is tapping at the back door window to be let in; it's so cute when she does that. She needs to stop going outside.
Man, I need to finish that catio in the backyard. And finish chopping up that firewood. My neighbours must think I'm the laziest ass thing in the world since possum's.
I also need to get that table out of the basement and into the yard. It'll make a great raised garden bed. Maybe I can do that Sunday. So much for bike riding then. I need to do another Tidwick cartoon then, anyway. Man, so much for three of those a week. I'm down to once!
Maybe I can get out and do something on Saturday. Cheseapeak City is having a festival that would be fun. I need film for my cameras. Do I need to help my son with Computer Science? Shit, probably. There goes Saturday. But I still need film. The camera store is near the comic store. Maybe I can hit them both up at the same time.
That's not far from Herman's. I need to take a picture of that for @dswigle's market friday, but it's a little out of the way.
Coffee smells good. Mmmm.
Bacon should wait. I need to get back to work. Hell, I need to start work.
Still thinking where to start. Has the hockey game started yet? Let me check. No, not yet, but I should check Twitter, too. I don't really use it, but I should. I've got to do some self-marketing! And engage with some people about building board games.
I need to post a Hive update about Frog's of War. I need to update Frog's of War. I need an artist. And some help with graphic design. If I can get the prototype a little more polished I can start to hunt down some more playtesters. I need to update Tabletop Simulator, too. I wonder how I can get it to manage transparent cards that are stackable. Do I really need to learn Lua, too?
Maybe I should spend a moment and browse through Hive.
No, I shouldn't do that. I need to work!
Ooooh, a Discord notification.
I want to go for a bike ride. I don't have time for a bike ride. It's nearly June. My bike misses me. I miss my bike!
I really, really need to start the work day. I'm going to work on Jira. Decision made. That deserves a small break.
I need a graphic for this post. Shit. I'll just throw a cute cat picture up top. Everyone like's cats.

It's like every day! I get distracted soooo easily. Squirrels and shiny things both. OMG, if I ever see a shiny squirrel I just might shit my pants.
Breathe with me... You have too much on your plate! It was making me dizzy! Why so much pressure to get things done?
I started saying no to a few things that were complicating my life in a bad way. There is only one of me and you have the added responsibility of chilluns. Two, in fact.
Cut yourself some slack... except for work. We need to work. Fun should be fun. :) Is the coffee ready yet?

It isn't really so bad. I just get distracted easily. I have so many unfinished projects, mostly because I find myself suddenly interested in something else. Yesterday's project is so... yesterday.

Ohhhhh, Victor. I so understand that post. Except the part about cat pictures. Who needs more stinking cats in their life?
Sam does. Either today or tomorrow he's scheduled to go meet his cat sister. Could be very interesting-or more likely a nothing burger. Now I'm hungry. And that song in my head isn't going away. But if I go to YouTube to exorcise it I'll be there for an hour with nothing to show but a need to get out of this chair. It pays to think things through.
So, yeah, I get it. I wish I had words of wisdom or even comfort for you but I need to think about it for a while. Won't take long unless I fall asleep.
That's often my answer as well! "What should I work on next? I'll decide that after a nap." It doesn't really help, but at least I can distract myself fully awake!
