Market Friday, on an Actual Friday! Some Photofinds
I took a little bit of time out of my day today (I snuck out of the house and away from work) to go peek into a nearby estate sale. It was in the neighbourhood right next to mine, so sneaking off didn't take very long at all.
Estate Sales are always a bittersweet venture; I usually feel guilty rummaging through a family's old belongings - or their parents old belongings - and looking to score a good deal, but then I feel good about... well.. about scoring a good deal. And then I feel good knowing that I'm salvaging someone's memories and not just letting them end up in the dump.
Today, I did not salvage the entire house. I didn't even pick up any furniture. What I did end up saving were three cameras.
I already have an Argus brick camera (an Argus C3), but I really like it and felt that another wouldn't upset the collection at all. The knobs on this one are a little smoother than my other one, and the viewfinder is cleaner, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting this into the field.
I also have another one of these. I might even have two. These Kodak's are a very basic bellows design that were used in multiple models. It takes 620 film and has a very simple lens. I do have some 620 film (expired, of course, since it has not been manufactured in many many years) that I'll load into it at some point. It'll be fun. Unlike the Argus above, which requires film advancement between shutter releases, this camera can be used to create double exposures.
Finally, I also found this little gem. If this wasn't at the sale I would have probably left the other two cameras there, but I felt I wanted to keep the fleet together, and this was too good to pass up.
I can honestly say, I have absolutely no idea what a Yunon camera is or where it came from. Google searching led me to find that they were made in Taiwan in the mid 80's and are used for, unsurprisingly, lomo photography. This one has a 50mm lens and nothing else fancy about it at all. It loads 35mm film, and I'm going to need to find a special type film for this one, I think. I'm really excited about it.
Thanks to @dswigle for hosting #MarketFriday and thanks to @victorbz and @angel35mm for running the Film community. I know this particular post isn't exactly film, but it's related, and I'm excited about them.

congrats on the beautiful find my friend.
there are no estate sales here, there are few small flea markets but almost no cameras there, and if there are they are really broken and destroyed.
Hope to see some photographs taken with these beauties
Thanks! I am hoping to get a reason to use them soon. It has been tough to get spare time of late, but I am certainly going to do what I can! Maybe I can make it to the city's Halloween parade next week!
sounds great.
i have a 3 unfinished frames in my Fuji GA645 and wanted to finish it today and to develop it.
i went for a round with my car, exposed one, and found myself seeing nothing. there are days... and there are days. :-)
Haha, that's very true. I'm trying to convince my son to go out for a long photo walk with me today. Crossing fingers!
wow! i do this sometimes with my younger ones.
hope you will do this

WOAH! That Yunon looks like the future!!!
Right?? I need to get that one out in the field.
same to mee :-)
That is so awesome, Victor! Oh, you scored with the Yunon! Nice, soft-focus pictures in vibrant colors, and even developed the traditional way. Oh, give me double exposure! The other two cameras thank him for saving their day.
I love going to the estate sales over there. Although it is always a mixed emotional bag sifting through people's life belongings.
Congratulations to you on your great find! I hope to see some of your shots soon!
#MarketFriday has evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? These are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I can only hope this to be true.
Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
Take pictures! Be creative!
5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

I need to quit looking for them! The estate sales, that is. Unless I start to fix things up and resell them.
Hmmmm.
Yes! Now that is a great idea, especially as there seems to be a resurgence in film again. Or perhaps that is just me?
I think many things old are becoming new again; film, vinyl, and cast-iron! Nothing beats a good cast iron frying pan, not even a bullet!
I have my grandmothers cast iron pan. They dont make them like they used to! I have a few of then, even cast iron roasting pans. It cooks it differently!
