Trip to the South For #Monomad Challenge

I was picking images from my spring trip for uploading to photo stocks, when I recollected that I had posted none of them in C/Black And White. Let me fix this blunder right now.

The trip was in April when I headed from Bangkok, where I have based in since January 2023, to southern Thailand. I visited Ko Lipe for the first time and said hello to my "old friend", Krabi Province.

This is Ko Lipe, an island in Satun Province, the most lovely place.

If you have two weeks or so for a trip to Thailand and you are not sure where to go, I recommend Ko Lipe as the main beach destination for the trip. It has amazing turquoise waters and picturesque islands on the horizon, and, besides, unlike many other beach destinations smelling commerce and greed, Ko Lipe has vibes of a lovely small town in the middle of sea.

Although, this place has been created by tourism, it also has flavor of authenticity. It's because, probably, the island belongs to small and tiny businesses, mostly, local ones. Family-run restaurants and tour companies, 1- and 2-storey hotels, seaside shacks with drinks and such. The central street of the tourist town is actually an alley too narrow for cars. The whole thing looks, as I have already summarized once, like "a cardboard scenery for a movie about an idyllic resort in Asia".

Krabi. I first visited the province in 2011. I have been to Krabi many times since then.

This is Railay peninsula, and a boat is the only way to get to this place - there are no roads leading there.

No roads since... just look at the image.

DSC_2660.JPG

The whole place is fenced from the rest of the world by the limestone giants.

They have a small piece of the plain there that host restaurants and hotels among gardens and coconut groves. The rest part is taken by rocks and jungle.

Extremely picturesque place with marvelous beaches and viewpoints.

Back to boat to leave to Ao Nang, a mainland town on the other side of the mentioned limestone giants:

It remains only to find an inexplicable giant mirror among the rocks and take a selfie of the travel team:

This time, colors are too good to throw them overboard. 🙂

Have you ever heard about Ko Lipe / Krabi? Have you ever been to Thailand? I will be glad to your comments!

Thank you for stopping by / reading / upvoting!

I took the images in April 2023 with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G, Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D, Nikkor 70-300mm on a full frame Nikon D750 in Bangkok, Thailand.
