Fireworks in the sky [EN/PT]

I've never been one to celebrate New Year's Eve by going to parties and all that. I've always preferred spending it with family. After I adopted Margot, though, I really preferred to just stay at home or go somewhere she could come with me, since she's terrified of fireworks.

However, even though I'm not a fan of parties, I've always loved watching the fireworks show that happens on New Year's Eve. I think the beauty of fireworks, coloring the sky in the first minutes of the new year, is incredible.

For many years, I've photographed these moments to preserve the images, as well as keeping them in my memory. And now it's the perfect time to share some of these shots here and participate in this week's @Qurator's Photo Quest Competition, which has the theme: fireworks.

This past year, on the transition from 2023 to 2024, I think it was the first time in my life that I didn't watch a fireworks display. Here in my city, the municipality passed a law prohibiting it due to the very loud noise that is quite harmful to animals and people with sensitivities/neurodivergences. Although I love watching fireworks, I also thought the initiative was good. However, I hope that next New Year's Eve there will be a fireworks show, as there are fireworks with noiseless technology. Let's wait and see!

Eu nunca fui de comemorar muito o réveillon indo para festas e tudo o mais. Sempre preferi passar em família. Depois que adotei a Margot então, aí que eu preferi mesmo ficar quietinha em casa ou ir para algum local que ela pudesse ir comigo, já que morre de medo de fogos de artifício.

Porém, mesmo não sendo fã das festas, eu sempre gostei muito de ver o show pirotécnico que acontece nas viradas de ano. Acho incrível a beleza dos fogos de artifício, que colorem o céu nos primeiros minutos do novo ano que se inicia.

Por muitos anos fotografei esses momentos, para guardar as imagens, além de ficar apenas na minha memória. E agora é o momento perfeito para compartilhar alguns desses registros aqui e participar da competição desta semana do Photo Quest Competition do @qurator, que tem como tema: fogos de artifício.

Nesse último ano, na virada de 2023 para 2024, acho que foi a primeira vez desde que me entendo por gente que não assisti a uma queima de fogos. Aqui na minha cidade, a prefeitura aprovou uma lei proibindo, devido ao barulho muito alto que é bastante prejudicial para animais e pessoas com algum tipo de sensibilidade/neurodivergência. Apesar de amar assistir a queima dos fogos de artifício, eu achei a iniciativa bacana também. Porém, espero que na próxima virada tenha o show pirotécnico, já que existem fogos de artifício com tecnologia sem estampido. Vamos aguardar!
