It's not uncommon when browsing blogs and news sites to come across texts written by artificial intelligence. Especially for those more accustomed to writing, as is my case, it's easy to identify when a text has not been genuinely written by a human but rather by robots. There's a certain pattern that is followed, with some keywords and all.

However, in my profession, we have to adapt daily to new tools and techniques. We can take advantage of these technological revolutions if we know exactly how to use them to our advantage. But will we eventually be replaced by robots and artificial intelligence entirely?

I believe not. In journalism, we are directly linked to the skills of investigation, critical analysis, and narrative that engages the reader, in the case of online or print journalism, which is more my area. We must speak with sources, verify the facts, and question those involved. However, at the same time, it's undeniable that certain tasks, such as analyzing large datasets and documents, can be performed by automated systems, even though they are duly checked before their publication.

An important point is to recognize that artificial intelligence is not a threat and is not our enemy, at least journalistically speaking, but rather a reality that is among us. Therefore, we must increasingly specialize in the subject and the tool and make the most of this trend positively.

Although I don't believe that robots can take over 100% of the journalist's work, I carefully consider how I could adapt my skills and experience in the field to face the situation. Opinion journalism is one of the areas that I believe cannot be influenced by a robot, as well as investigative journalism, where I already operate. There are also other opportunities resulting from the interaction between journalism and technology, such as, as I have already mentioned, data analysis and the creation of interactive narratives.

We must always remember that the value of journalism goes far beyond the mere transmission of information. We have the responsibility to contextualize what is being said and, with a language that serves our target audience, to make ourselves and the reader understand the world around us in a meaningful way. This is a human skill that, even with the tremendous advancement of technology, can never be replaced by a machine.

However, we must take into account that if the work of the journalist is truly completely replaced by machines, it is essential that the focus on quality, integrity, and relevance of the stories be maintained. Our profession is constantly evolving, and we must always maintain our commitment to truth, ethics, and the pursuit of accurate information.

Principalmente, para quem está mais habituado com a escrita, como é o meu caso, é fácil identificar quando um texto não foi, genuinamente, escrito por um humano e sim por robôs. Existe um certo padrão que é seguido, com algumas palavras chaves e tudo o mais.

Porém, na minha profissão, temos que nos adaptar diariamente à novas ferramentas e técnicas. Podemos tirar proveito dessas revoluções tecnológicas se soubermos exatamente como usá-las ao nosso favor. Mas será que seremos eventualmente substituídos por robôs e inteligência artificial em totalidade?

Eu acredito que não. No jornalismo estamos diretamente ligados à habilidade da investigação, análise crítica e narrativa que envolva o leitor, no caso do jornalismo on-line ou impresso, que é mais a minha área. Devemos conversar com as fontes, apurar os fatos, questionar os envolvidos. Porém, ao mesmo tempo, é inegável que certas tarefas, como análise de grandes conjuntos de dados e de documentos podem ser realizadas por sistemas automatizados, ainda que os mesmos sejam devidamente conferidos antes da sua publicação.

Um ponto importante é reconhecer que a inteligência artificial não é uma ameaça e não é nossa inimiga, pelo menos jornalisticamente falando, mas sim, uma realidade que está no meio de nós. Portanto, devemos cada vez mais nos especializar no assunto e na ferramenta e aproveitar essa tendência de forma positiva.

Apesar de não acreditar que robôs possam tomar 100% o trabalho do jornalista, penso cuidadosamente sobre como poderia adaptar minhas habilidades e minha vivência na área para enfrentar a situação. Jornalismo de opinião é uma das vertentes que acredito não poder ser influenciada por um robô, assim como o investigativo, onde já atuo. Também existem outras oportunidades consequentes da interação entre o jornalismo e a tecnologia, como, inclusive já cite, na análise de dados e criação de narrativas interativas.

Devemos sempre levar que o valor do jornalismo vai muito além da simples transmissão das informações. Temos a responsabilidade de contextualizar o que está sendo dito e, com uma linguagem que atenda o nosso público alvo, nos fazer entender e que o leitor entenda o mundo ao redor de forma significativa. Essa é uma habilidade humana, que, mesmo com o avanço absurdo da tecnologia, jamais poderá ser substituída por máquina.

Porém, devemos levar em consideração que, se realmente o trabalho do jornalista for totalmente substituído por máquinas, é imprescindível que o foto na qualidade, integridade e relevância das histórias sejam mantidas. Nossa profissão está em constante evolução e devemos sempre manter o compromisso com a verdade, ética e busca recorrência da informação.
