I’m short on words today… Who needs them, when you have the beauty of nature to contemplate?
Growing up in Egypt, I was deprived of the glorious change of seasons that takes place in Washington DC, where I lived for nearly 10 years on and off…
Behold the richness of colors…
And, also, the melancholy splendor of Fall, preparing us for Winter.
Sunset or the twilight hour bring out the full bitter sweet effect of autumn … That burnt gold of something precious, but tarnished…
It almost makes you want to have a cry… in a good way. On the high side, Fall as a season represents a kind of wisdom—reminding us of the inevitability of loss, the necessity of surrender.

Oh, you get it!!! the melancholy splendor of Fall - how bittersweet, "That burnt gold of something precious, but tarnished…" that elusive (for me) sense of wisdom, "reminding us of the inevitability of loss, the necessity of surrender." Denial, resistance, refusal to surrender....
Brilliant reds and yellows, glowing with sunlight against a cloudless blue sky - yes, there are days like that, but the sepias and the murky pewter skies, the damp chill, smoke curling up from rooftops. That. I actually love an overcast day, and even the leafless trees of November, the muted colors.
