How suffering makes us better …

There is much to protest in the modern world & that might push us to civil disobedience: political injustice, governmental corruption, immoral wars.

But, in the spiritual realm, matters are different…

While we should try to protest against oppressive persons, institutions or circumstances, we cannot protest against what Life considers necessary. Or, as writer Kafka puts it: In the struggle between yourself and the world, side with the world.

What does this mean?

Esoterically-speaking: the purifying fires of the spirit(ual life) tend to render the material illusory.

To put it more plainly, I believe suffering ennobles, puts things into perspective, makes us wiser. To not protest is to accept (what is necessary) and I know of no more enlightened approach.

So, if one has been through 'hell' they don't complain about minor setbacks or hardships... (in comparison all things are trivial in relation).

Whether it's vets back from physical war, or spiritual warriors who've tackled inner monsters, or people who know real deprivation/loss/suffering in life.

The challenge, of course, is to know what we can change — in the material world — and what we must accept — in the spiritual realm.

I hope these words are meaningful to you & move you to your private meditation 🧘🏻‍♂️
