Scary Encounter with Bulls 😱 (& peaceful garden work)

Yesterday evening, we had an adventure we could have done without. My wife and our friend went to check up on our cows, while I stayed in the car.

Moments later they came back, running and breathless. They were shouting to me to get out quickly and help them to shut the barb wire gate.

I don’t like to be rushed and thought all the fuss was because it was starting to rain. Turns out my wife and our friend were being chased by two bulls (one was an adolescent with pointy horns) and they made it out, just in time! Phew 😮‍💨

We were all a little worn out by this close encounter & decided to call it an early night.

This meant that I woke up earlier than usual & had the chance to do some serious weeding. Here are Bismarkia palm trees that we planted around two months ago. As you can see, they are growing nicely, but so are the weeds 👀

So I spent an hour or so pulling out those pesky weeds by their roots, which resembled shaggy beards :). How strong the life force!

This palm, which means noble in Latin, can grow up to an impressive 60 feet high with 4 feet wide silvery fans which look like giant fans or peacock feathers 🦚
