We live in the age of social media where we virtually do everything. We use social media for entertainment, education purposes, for our business, among others. Of course, these are just the positive aspects and there are a number of negative uses of social media including cyber bullying, but this article would not be too focused on the negatives. This article is themed "positives" so let's focus on the good side of social media today.

If you have realized, there are a lot of people who use tiktok now. Have you stopped to wonder why that is the case. It is two words, short content. Yes, short contents is something that we did not know we needed. Honestly, I did not even consider this as a possibility before it became a thing. I feel social media like youtube really peaked and gained more users during the covid - 19 pandemic. At the time we had nothing doing except, sleeping and waking up, eating and trying to avoid boredom. So, we had to start making more use of our web2 platforms including whatsapp, tiktok, snapchat and twitter. To be honest, I think that was the time I sat myself down to create my twitter and snapchat accounts.

It was very quickly realized that short form contents were more preferred because views and literally everyone was involved in a tiktok challenge. Artistes used it to promote their music and content creators used it to engage their followers. Through these, microblogging became more real and appreciated.

What Is Microblogging?

If you hear microblogging, think twitter. Twitter is the embodiment of this concept. Microblogging can be explained or described as creating short posts for an audience to share their views on and interact. These are not just limited to posts and writings but audio, videos and links can be shared. With microblogging, a thought from an author can be shared and in the comments, you can find a lot of engagement. It can be an interesting fact to draw the attention of users and readers. With videos, a short clip can be shared and the audience watch and then give their thoughts on them.

Twitter has a word count limit of 280 characters including spaces, punctuations, and links. So, when microblogging you have to try to be as concise as possible because when you exceed the post count, you would not be able to post. You can also share what others write about and these posts you make on twitter are called tweets. You can share by retweeting and also engage by replying. Twitter was very recently acquired by crypto enthusiast Elon Musk, billionaire Tesla owner and has been making changes to the platform. You now pay to be verified and that gives you the blue checkmark. This gives everyone equal opportunity to have the checkmark. Whether that is good or bad is debatable. Other changes have been made and some are yet to be made.

Other web2 platforms that make use of microblogging include tumblr, facebook, among others. Facebook might not really seem that way unless you think about it. You know how Facebook has the "how are you feeling" edit button, that is microblogging which users are expected to just share their thoughts.

The downside to these web2 microblogging platforms is that they encourage centralization which means you could have your tweets or posts deleted or even have your account banned. They say share your thoughts but those thoughts believe it or not are restricted. We saw after the elections in the United States of America when former president Donald Trump kept tweeting to the point of calling the elections rigged. His twitter account was suspended then which goes to tell us, microblogging on these platforms are not entirely safe. There is a solution to this and that is what we would be looking at in the next section.

Microblogging On Leoverse, Leothreads

SEO for Hive

With all the negative sides or cons of using a centralized microblogging, threads on leofinance is the most efficient solution. Is it security, the leoverse is more secure. Is it freedom to express yourself, the leoverse encourages that freedom. At this point, I sound like a fanboy and I am haha. Threads does that to you. The leoverse comprises everything leofinance. That includes LEO Dex, leo threads, LEO, long form posts on the UI, among others.

Leofinance is a community on web3 platform hive that primarily focusses on posts related to finance, economics, cryptocurrency, fintech, among others. That is in respects to long form posts or long form contents. When you turn your attention to leothreads it's different altogether. Leothreads is microblogging on leofinance which has been revolutionized with the new UI. Leofinance has been doing short form contents for a while now but it was not that user friendly and had a few glitches here and there. When I heard of threads back then from a friend, I tried it but the experience was not that smooth and I stayed away. The team realized and because they listen to the community, they came up with the new UI we are currently using.

The Alpha phase of the UI was released on the 1st of May and it has seen only improvements since that time. There is still a lot of improvements that need to be made but Khal and the dedicated team are on it. Now let's focus on microblogging on leofinance. Unlike with long form posts where the kind of content you publish is restricted, that is not the case with leo threads. On leo threads, you can share whatever you are thinking, you can share videos and you can share audio. This does not have to be on matters relating to only crypto, finance, economics, politics, fintech and business but can be music, movies, sports or anything interesting. Microblogging on leofinance has seen a tremendous level of engagement in the community and even hive. I recently achieved the 5000 comments on hive and that would not have been possible without microblogging on leofinance.

Khal and Anomadsoul have said countlessly they believe the future of hive, web3 and content creation is short form content and the sooner everyone realizes that and adopts accordingly, the better. That is why so much focus is placed on leothreads right now to improve user experience with microblogging. Hive is supposed to be engagement driven and I believe we can all relate that at certain times, we do not want to read long form contents but even if you are able to, it is very difficult to do so for hours. What's the simple solution to solve this? One word, microblogging.

With the numbers leothreads is recording, it is pretty obvious users prefer short form content more. More than 10K threads daily is no small feet. It's no joke at all. That is massive level of user engagement. You could put out a thread saying "good morning friends" and it gets more engagement than a long form post you spent more than 3 hours to make. That's the beauty of microblogging on leofinance. I have gotten a lot of engagement from threads about football and movies in the space of 3 weeks that if you probably put together all my replies and comments I have made and received on my posts on leofinance, it would be x5 or more.

Microblogging in the leoverse in my opinion is the definition of hive as social media. It's the definition of social media in general. I mean there are already ways of creating short form content on hive by using 3speak but how many of us really use it? Even those that do use 3speak do not make short videos like we see with youtube shorts and instagram stories. Nevertheless, microblogging gives you the chance to do so. It focusses on giving the user a twitter like experience with the UI. But it is so much better.

Without dedicated consumers of a product, the product would not get the recognition it deserves and might not be used to it's full potential. Leo threads has dedicated users who use leo threads a lot now. If you told me a month ago resource credits could reduce drastically, I would laugh and say you do not know what you were talking about but it turns out you would have be right. As I write this, my resource credits is at a low of 40%. It shows how much I have used it and it is all down to microblogging on threads. Only a few people complaining about their resource credits would mean threads is not properly consumed by the several potential customers but it is nice to see a lot more users are complaining about their resource credits draining. This is good because it helps both hive and the user long term. Users can power up their hive currency for hive power by staking which just goes to increase your influence on the platform.

Earning From Microblogging

The Leoverse supports its users by helping them in micro-earning. You do not just spend the entire day on leo threads and not make some earnings. There is an added feature of upvoting just like with long form contents. Provided you have staked leo in your wallet, you can give users some $LEO with your upvotes. Of course, it has to be a significant amount of leo power. Even those of us with small leo power still get supported by curators. This is nice because you get rewarded for having a good time on threads. When you microblog with threads, you passively earn $LEO.

The LEO token is the utility token of leofinance community. It has had a stable price for sometime now although the market is in red. It is the token used in the leoverse and is on the hive blockchain. Can be traded on leodex and hiveengine.

Web2 Microblogging vs Web3 Microblogging

With microblogging on web2, there is risk of losing your account. It is centralized and so when the owners feel you are out of place, they can block your account or suspend it. With microblogging on web3, you do not stand the chance of losing your account. Web3 promotes decentralization meaning you are in full control of your account.

Microblogging on web2 does not usually lead to earning passively. The best you can do is advertise your business. With web3, there is usually the chance of earning digital assets. In the Leoverse, you earn LEO.

For what I have seen, it is easier to get engagement on web3 than web2. On leo threads even a newbie can get several interactions but on twitter, large engagement is usually for the bigger accounts.

In conclusion, leo threads is microblogging on web3 platform hive and the leoverse. It is more decentralized and secure than the likes of twitter. You can also earn passively on leo threads by earning the secondary token $LEO. I have no doubt that when the new UI is fully up and running with the fixed bugs and promising features, microblogging on leofinace will take over. That is, concise thoughts, information, audio and video content creation.

Thank you.
