Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Delve Into The World of Glint

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog as I make my entry to this week's social media challenge. Last week I spoke about the an upcoming update to the splinterlands game that would see the glint token and reward shop replace the daily and season chests.

When the season ended on the 4th of April, a maintenance was scheduled which saw an update released. That was already expected but the results of this maintenance came as a shock to me.

First of all, I did not expect changes to the interface to the made and though the new interface is not bad, it took me a while to navigate and get used to it. Another thing that came as a surprise was when I opened my season chests and got know $SPS rewards. I thought that was going to take effect this season but all that was in the chests were cards, merits and potions. However, we are told that $SPS rewards will now be increased for victorious battles. I have seen an increase in the SPS I earn this season as compared to last season's.

So, first what you see on the new interface is that the ranking on the battle history page is now in the middle and the energy that has been shifted to the right side of the screen. On the left and right of the screen below, the energy you clearly see the Glint Boost and Reward Shop. The balance of your earned $GLINT is stated there and the expected Glint you can earn at the end of the season is written just beside your Glint balance.

What is Glint?

There is new information added to the support page of the game that tells us all we need to know about this new token. Were you able Glint was previously called Rewards Shares?. Maybe some of you do but I was shocked to read that.

So, glint is an in-game token for splinterlands that users will earn in battle which they will use to shop in the new reward shop. It can be earned from battling in both the modern and wild league formats where earning in the modern league is 50 times more than earning in the wild league.

After every victorious battle, the glint won is displayed as part of the battle results. Glint will not only be earned from winning battles but at the end of every season, you receive Glint as reward based on your final rating.

When To Spend Your Glint?

So, before the release of this update, I was of the notion that you have to spend your earned Glint at the end of the season. However, I have come to realize that you can accumulate your Glint for as long as you want and spend it whenever you want. Do you like that?

It means, the Glint you decide not to spend is in your balance forever.

The Reward Shop

To access the reward shop, click on "SHOP on the battle history page and then click on "rewards from the other options. The shop is displayed and you can access what's in the shop.

So, the items in the reward shop are restocked at the start of every season. However, when you purchase items from the shop before the season ends, it is restocked but then the prices of the items are 50x more expensive.

In the rewards shop you can purchase potions, merits, energy and land titles. So, to not be a victim of a 50% price increase, shop carefully.
