Panyin Says Happy New Year

avatar

Good night or good morning everyone, hope u all doing great.

I wanted to start this year by sharing something simple but meaningful to me, since this is my first New Year post and it felt nice to do it from an honest place, without poses or big speeches. First of all, I truly wish you a Happy New Year, and I hope this new beginning brings health, calm, fresh ideas, and a little more light for all of us. TY for being on the other side ----.. it really means a lot. 💙

This drawing is a fan art of the lovely Payin, something quite different from what I usually do. Those who know me know my artistic path normally goes in other directions, so this felt more like a small adventure outside my comfort zone. It wasn’t something I planned for a long time, the idea just came up and I decided to give it a try, without overthinking whether it fit or not with what I usually create.

I have to admit something many of you already know: lines and I are natural enemies 😅. It’s always been a complicated relationship, full of silent battles, constant fixes, and doubts. Still, I decided to face it instead of avoiding it, because sometimes it’s good to remember that not everything has to be perfect to be worth doing.

The process was pretty chill, even though it involved a lot of tweaks. There were moments when I felt something just wasn’t working, so I had to step back, erase, adjust proportions, and rethink things. It wasn’t frustrating at all --.-. tbh, it was one of those processes where you learn as you go, even when the final result isn’t exactly what you had in mind at the start.

I did the whole drawing in Photoshop, keeping the workflow pretty simple, without too many effects or technical complications. I wanted it to feel direct and honest, not hiding the process behind too many layers of perfection. Although, compared to my other drawings, this one actually ended up with more layers than usual, haha.

I was also streaming while I was drawing, sharing the whole process live. Drawing with people around really changes the experience, because you’re no longer alone in front of the screen —.-. There are people commenting, giving their thoughts, talking or just watching I also really enjoy seeing friends there.

image.png

Sometimes I feel a bit shy shy shyyyy, since I don’t usually talk that much, but it’s still fun to share the moment with friends and just enjoy the time together, tbh.

Showing the process as it really is, with doubts, corrections, and pauses, has always felt important to me. Not everything has to look clean or finished from the start, and imo, sharing that also helps normalize the idea that art is a process, not just a pretty final result.

I don’t usually make this kind of fan art, but this piece reminded me how good it feels to change the pace, try new things, and not box yourself in. Sometimes we push ourselves way too hard, and works like this help reconnect with the simple joy of creating, without huge expectations. Plus, it’s actually a nice way to practice lines too, haha.

A while ago I was looking for this little shark you see down here 🦈. It’s really special to me. I won it a long time ago here, n it was done by a person many years ago but also I consider a GREAT GREAT GREAT FRIEND now n who does amazing work , very talented🤗.

I thought I had lost it , I was very sad… but noooo! I got it back! Yes ! He found n sent it to me again, and I’m so happy to have it with me once more.
So from now on, this shark will be keeping me company 💙

Now yes! See you next time.
