My Quarantine Days: Ordering and Meditating

With the call to remain in our homes and prevent the spread of the coronavirus, in my country Venezuela, a social and collective quarantine was decreed, which forces us to remain in our homes. From that day on, the activities I had planned were postponed, since no one wants to get sick.

For many, this quarantine left them in a kind of limbo. Used to going out, working, looking for food and other things, it seems that staying in their homes left them with a huge question mark.

The first days of quarantine, from my window, I noticed that many people did not comply with the use of mouthguards or gloves. Everyone explained their arguments for not using them and I simply listened. My thoughts were always tied to trying to meet the requirements to keep us as healthy as possible throughout this great event.

However, paranoia doesn't worry me. I had to go out and buy food and stock up, you know that the topic of food in Venezuela is not very encouraging, but still, my sister and I took our precautions and embarked on the adventure. When we arrived, we washed our hands, washed our masks, our clothes, and, once again, we stayed at home.

In my case, these days have helped me to advance my thesis a lot, although the deadline was postponed. Putting my room in order: shaking books, clothes, organizing drawers... completing other pending things. Really, organizing and cleaning is a therapy that helps me to find myself again.

It sounds crazy, but I once read that keeping our spaces organized helps us to put our ideas and our lives in order and, in my experience, it does. After organizing a lot of things I felt like everything went back to calm and I felt more relaxed.

Another thing I appreciate most about these days is the silence. Yes, the silence. Although it may not seem so, from time to time, I like to feel the peace of silence. There are not many people in the street, no traffic and that makes the atmosphere quiet.

It was precisely these moments of silence that reminded me of the days when I used to meditate (or at least try to) and remembered how good it made me feel. So I decided to try again.

Meditating is one of those activities that allows you to quiet your mind, or as I say, quiet the crazy lady of the house. That voice that keeps reminding you of your defects, your anguish, your problems, your anger... Being silent for a moment and just listening to your breathing can be a way to calm down. This improves our pressure, our mood, our memory, in short, it is ideal to practice it just in these days when we have to deal with uncertainty, the panic of others and many other things.

I admit that I am not very happy about the quarantine, because it is not a vacation, but I try to handle it in the best way possible. Take care of the prevention measures and move many things forward.

I pray to God that this happens soon and that we return to our normal work and to you, I ask you to take care of yourself and to keep yourself as healthy as possible, the world needs beautiful people like you who contribute with your publications to bring love to all...
