Hola amigas de esta fabulosa comunidad de la cual me siento parte, hoy les comparto con mucha alegría de que ya comencé a cumplir mi tablero de visiones para este 2024, tal cual como me lo propuse y estoy muy alegre por ello.

Inicialmente, mi primera meta era culminar el trabajo de mi cocina para antes que finalizara el mes de enero y al fin lo cumplí y estoy muy contenta por ello, fue un trabajo lento y algo estresante, pero finalmente puedo verla terminada.

Les cuento desde el inicio, al mudarme la distribución de mi apartamento no me gustaba, pues al entrar lo primero que me encontraba era el lavandero descubierto, justo al abrir la puerta y eso me chocaba a la vista jajaja. Así que con mi poco conocimiento sobre construcción decidí hacer una nueva distribución, un concepto abierto, dónde no me sintiera apretada.

Hello friends of this fabulous community of which I feel part, today I share with great joy that I began to fulfill my vision board for this 2024, as I proposed and I am very happy about it.
Initially, my first goal was to finish the work on my kitchen before the end of January and I finally accomplished it and I am very happy about it, it was a slow and somewhat stressful work, but finally I can see it finished.
I tell you from the beginning, when I moved the distribution of my apartment I did not like it, because when I entered the first thing I found was the laundry room uncovered, just when I opened the door and that shocked me at sight hahaha. So with my little knowledge about construction I decided to make a new distribution, an open concept, where I did not feel cramped.

Así que transformé el lavandero y el espacio de la cocina en un solo ambiente de cocina e hice una ampliación a mi apartamento y allí construí el lavandero más espacioso.
Esto implicó mover unas tuberías de gas y de agua y los albañiles que me ayudaron a hacer el trabajo era como decimos en Venezuela "Unos caimanes".

Pero de eso me daba cuenta luego de verlos trabajar, no conocía a nadie más, y terminó siendo un proceso lento y tormentoso, trabajaban mal, con mucha lentitud y venían un día avanzaban y después se perdían y dejaban las cosas a medias y el que venía después terminaba remendando lo que dejó el anterior.

Hubo una oportunidad que mande a instalar el lavaplatos, con su mesón a los lados a fin de poder después ponerle sus puertas, yo suelo preguntar e indagar antes de hacer algo y sé que la altura estándar para montar un lavaplatos es de 90 cm de altura; sin embargo, esto puede varias de acuerdo a la altura de la persona que lo vaya a usar, yo quería hacer todo en concreto y forrarlo con cerámica y porcelanato, para después ponerle sus puertas. Pues el señor me puso el lavaplatos a 1 metro y algunos centímetros, porque para él era más cómodo no tener que enterrar los planchones un poco más.

So I transformed the laundry room and the kitchen space into a single kitchen environment and made an extension to my apartment and there I built the laundry room more spacious.
This involved moving some gas and water pipes and the masons who helped me do the job were as we say in Venezuela "caimans".
But I realized that after watching them work, I didn't know anyone else, and it ended up being a slow and stormy process, they worked badly, very slowly and they came one day they made progress and then they got lost and left things half done and the one who came later ended up patching up what the previous one left.
There was an opportunity that I had the dishwasher installed, with its countertop on the sides in order to be able to put its doors later, I usually ask and inquire before doing something and I know that the standard height for mounting a dishwasher is 90 cm high; however, this can vary according to the height of the person who will use it, I wanted to do everything in concrete and line it with ceramic and porcelain, and then put its doors. Well, the man put the dishwasher at 1 meter and some centimeters, because for him it was more comfortable not to have to bury the plates a little more.

Yo saqué la cuenta y cuando comencé a sumar me di cuenta de que estaba por encima del metro de altura los planchones base, más la altura del pego y la cerámica, eso me iba a quedar muy alto y más considerando que yo mido 1.58 cm.
Esto implicaba que iba a fregar con los codos alzados y eso sería muy incómodo para mí, que al final de cuentas iba a ser quien utilizaría el lavaplatos e iba a quedar más alto que el otro mesón.

Lo cierto fue que le dije que no podía hacérmelo tan alto y me insistió en que eso estaba bien así y yo le volví a decir que no, terminó diciéndome que si yo iba a saber más que el quién era el albañil jajajaj y yo muy firme le hable de las medidas estándares de 90 cm de alto y 60 cm de profundidad y me terminó diciendo que bueno debí decírselo antes de que lo fijara.

Lo cierto es que no quiso terminar el trabajo y tuve que mandarlo a hacer con alguien más. Luego compré las tapas de los gabinetes listas de instalar, las vi y me enamoré de ellas, y mande a hacer el armario en concreto para ponérselas encima.

The truth was that I told him that I could not make it so high and he insisted that it was fine and I said no, he ended up telling me that if I was going to know more than him who was the mason hahahahahah and I very firmly told him about the standard measures of 90 cm high and 60 cm deep and he ended up telling me that well I should have told him before he fixed it.
The truth is that he did not want to finish the job and I had to have it done by someone else. Then I bought the cabinet tops ready to install, saw them and fell in love with them, and had the specific cabinet made to put them on top.

De esta distribución no sabía mucho, mi lógica me decía que había que enterrar los planchones en la pared luego de que estuviesen listos y así vi que los hicieron, pero al momento de fijarlos en la pared, pues las tapas quedaron pequeñas, yo estaba decepcionada y molesta, pero ya no podía hacer nada, si las adaptaba con madera se vería feo y me resigne, pues ya no tenía para compra más material ni volver a pagar.

Luego vino la crisis y ya no pude hacer grandes avances, así fui haciendo poco a poco, la idea era tenerla lista antes de que mi hijo naciera hace ya 6 años y mi embarazo estuvo lleno de cemento y polvo aquí en el apartamento y no se terminó el trabajo. Me resigné a parar por un tiempo, ya que todo el dinero se me iba en comida y ya tenía un nuevo bebe.

Pero vivía incómoda porque no me gustaba que se vieran las cosas en el armario, ni los platos y ollas debajo de los mesones. Hace unos meses mi hermano comenzó a hacer un trabajo que le pidieron de fabricar unas urnas, él agarró el contrato y yo me fui coleada, cuando vi toda esa madera dije "Este es el momento" Así que le dije que me ayudara a ponerle las puertas a la cocina.

I did not know much about this distribution, my logic told me that I had to bury the planks in the wall after they were ready and so I saw that they did, but at the time of fixing them on the wall, because the lids were small, I was disappointed and upset, but I could not do anything, if I adapted them with wood it would look ugly and I resigned myself, because I did not have to buy more material or pay again.
Then came the crisis and I could not make great progress, so I was doing little by little, the idea was to have it ready before my son was born 6 years ago and my pregnancy was full of cement and dust here in the apartment and the work was not finished. I resigned myself to stop for a while, since all the money was going on food and I already had a new baby.
But I lived uncomfortably because I didn't like the things in the cupboard to be seen, nor the dishes and pots under the counters. A few months ago my brother started to do a job that he was asked to do to make some urns, he took the contract and I went to work, when I saw all that wood I said "This is the moment" So I told him to help me to put the doors to the kitchen.

Mi hermano sabía cuanto deseaba ver la cocina lista y el presupuesto tan limitado que tenía, así que se dispuso en ayudarme, el problema es que el de carpintería no sabía nada porque es Gandolero y el muchacho que tenía fabricando las urnas, solo sabía hacer urnas jajajaja.

Así que me lancé varios tutoriales de YouTube al igual que él. En la carpintería dónde mi hermano mandó a hacer el trabajo de las urnas había muchas máquinas, pero no sabíamos usarlas, así que al cálculo fuimos midiendo y picando, perdimos una que otra tabla por falla de cálculo jajaja, pero no nos dimos por vencidos. Él un día se puso y me hizo las dos puerticas del lavaplatos, mi corazón se llenó de alegría cuando me envió las fotos.

Y así me propuse hacer las del mesón, pero mi hermano estaba ocupado en otras cosas y el trabajo se volvió lento, como pude por mercado libre, fui comprando todo lo que necesitaba para instalar por lo menos esas puertas, compré bisagras para embutir, manillas, sellador, lijas, tinta, pega, tornillos, ramplu, mechas de taladro, tíner y silicón.

My brother knew how much I wanted to see the kitchen ready and the limited budget I had, so he was willing to help me, the problem is that he didn't know anything about carpentry because he is a Gandolero and the guy I had making the urns, only knew how to make urns hahahaha.
So I launched several YouTube tutorials just like him. In the carpentry shop where my brother sent to do the work of the urns there were many machines, but we did not know how to use them, so we were measuring and chopping, we lost one or another table by miscalculation hahaha, but we did not give up. One day he got down to work and made me the two dishwasher doors, my heart was filled with joy when he sent me the pictures.
And so I proposed to do the countertop, but my brother was busy with other things and the work became slow, as I could by free market, I was buying everything I needed to install at least those doors, I bought hinges to embed, handles, sealant, sandpaper, ink, glue, screws, ramplu, drill bits, ink and silicone.

Comprar esto me llevó un tiempo por causas del dinero y luego de lijarla yo misma le eché el sellador y las pinté a punta de brocha, mi vecino que sabe de carpintería me ayudó a instalar las bisagras y junto a mi hermano y mi esposo las fijamos junto a su marco.

Luego mi hermano cuando pudo me hizo las otras de abajo y las de arriba las tuve que mandar a hacer, mi vecino junto a mi esposo las instalaron, yo las pinté y el día de mi cumpleaños la terminamos, puse las orillas fijadas con silicón y ramplu, puse las manillas y viéndola lista, me sentí muy pero muy feliz.

Y aunque no es una cocina cara o tan lujosa como otras, esta en particular me costó sudor, lágrimas y mucho esfuerzo. Estoy agradecida con Dios por permitirme disfrutar de ella y agradezco a las personas que me ayudaron a hacerlo posible, estoy muy feliz por ello, porque he podido ver materializado mi primera meta en ese tablero de visión que publiqué hace poco.

Buying this took me a while because of the money and after sanding it myself I put the sealant and painted them with a brush, my neighbor who knows about carpentry helped me install the hinges and together with my brother and my husband we fixed them to the frame.
Then when my brother could, he made the bottom ones and the top ones I had to have them made, my neighbor and my husband installed them, I painted them and the day of my birthday we finished it, I put the edges fixed with silicone and ramplu, I put the handles and seeing it ready, I was very, very happy.
And although it is not an expensive kitchen or as luxurious as others, this particular one cost me sweat, tears and a lot of effort. I am grateful to God for allowing me to enjoy it and I thank the people who helped me to make it possible, I am very happy about it, because I have been able to see my first goal materialized in that vision board I published recently.

Cada tornillo, cada uña que dejé en varios pliegos de lija, cada pegoste de silicón que me quedó en las manos, cada camisa que se me manchó mientras buscaba y conseguía ese tono oscuro que quería ha valido la pena. Logré esos tonos cálidos y neutros que quería que se vieran en armonía y para no hacerles este cuento más largo, con mucha alegría, les comparto mi primera meta cumplida de este 2024. Every screw, every nail that I left on several sheets of sandpaper, every silicone sticking to my hands, every shirt that got stained while I was looking for and getting that dark tone I wanted has been worth it. I achieved those warm and neutral tones that I wanted to look in harmony and not to make this story longer, with much joy, I share with you my first accomplished goal of this 2024.
