This Neck Travel Cushion is a pillow that your head rests on, and your neck is kept in total relaxation and in such a stable and comfortable position that it makes your travel enjoyable, while preventing neck pain or discomfort. This is an accessory that I didn't know I needed it so much until I tried it and now I love it, it is a must when taking a long car trip.
Este Cojín de Viaje para el Cuello es una almohada en la que descansa tu cabeza, y tu cuello se mantiene en total relajamiento y en una posición tan estable y cómoda que hace que tu viaje sea placentero, al tiempo que te evita dolores o molestias en la cervical. Este es un accesorio que no sabía que lo necesitaba tanto hasta que lo probé y ahora lo amo, es un indispensable a la hora de hacer un viaje largo en carro.
When making this cushion it was very important to me that it had a thick, raised shape, so that it really felt like I was resting on a pillow. To achieve this I was not satisfied with the Patterns that consisted of only two pieces, but I added a third piece to give it more dimensionality, I understood this because I once had in my hands a commercial Cushion, that is to say a quality one that you get in good stores or stores, and I observed it for a long time analyzing its shape. So, there were three pieces joined together to form a kind of triangle, ideal to elevate or keep our neck elevated and well positioned. Al hacer este Cojín era muy importante para mi que tuviera una forma elevada y gruesa, de manera que realmente la sensación fuese que estoy apoyada en una almohada. Para lograr esto no me conformé con los Patrones que consistían en dos piezas solamente, sino que le añadí una tercera pieza para darle mas dimensionalidad, esto lo entendí ya que en una oportunidad tuve en mis mano un Cojín comercial, es decir uno de calidad que consigues en tiendas o almacenes buenos, y lo observé durante un buen rato analizando su forma. De manera que, eran tres piezas unidas para formar una especie de triángulo, ideal para elevar o mantener elevado y bien posicionado nuestro cuello. En la imagen anterior puedes apreciar lo grueso y provocador que es este Cojín Ahora te muestro cómo lo hice...

The Patterns of this model of Travel Neck Cushion, consists of two pieces. One that I am going to cut 2 times in printed fabric, and that in the pattern appears indicated with 3 points where is the fold. When the patterns have these 3 points indicated, it means that the folded fabric should be placed there so that the double of the pattern figure comes out.
In my case, since I was working with scraps of fabric and it was not enough to make the fold of the fabric, what I did was to cut the pattern 4 times and sew where the fold should go, in order to get the complete piece.
Los Patrones de este modelo de Cojín de Viaje para el Cuello, consta de dos piezas. Una que voy a cortar 2 veces en tela estampada, y que en el patrón aparece señalado con 3 puntos donde es el doblez. Cuando los patrones tienen indicado estos 3 puntos, significa que ahí debe ubicarse la tela doblada para que salga el doble de la figura del patrón.
En mi caso dado que estaba trabajando con retazos de tela y ésta no me alcanzaba para hacer el doblez de la tela, lo que hice fue cortar 4 veces ese patrón y coser donde debía ir el doblez, para así conseguir la pieza completa.
The second pattern corresponds to the unicolor fabric, according to the design I thought of, and which I also sewed in order to make the complete piece.
El segundo patrón corresponde a la tela unicolor, de acuerdo al diseño que pensé, y que igualmente cosí para poder sacar la pieza completa.
There is no problem to solve the fabric folds with sewing, you can look at how I sewed them and when I open them I have my complete piece, and so I can continue with the tailoring. The important thing is to solve and make the things we want using the resources we have available.❤️❤️
No hay problema de resolver los doblez de tela con costura, puedes fijarte como los cosí y al abrirlos tengo mi pieza completa, y así puedo seguir con la confección. Lo importante es resolver y hacer las cosas que queremos utilizando los recursos que disponemos.❤️❤️
The next step is to join the two pieces of the printed fabrics, only along what will be the outer edge. To do this I place facing to facing and sew straight stitching.
El siguiente paso es unir las dos piezas de las telas estampadas, solo por lo que será el borde exterior. Para ello coloco frente con frente y paso costura recta.
Now one with the unicolor fabric, I guide myself by the centers of the fabrics to ensure that all the pieces match well.

Important: Leave a space of 7 or 8 cms without sewing to be able to turn the piece right side out.
I made two rounds of stitching to secure the seams well, and thus prevent them from opening with use.

Realicé dos vueltas de costura para asegurar bien las uniones, y así evitar que se abran con el uso.
When I had the design up to here, I thought of adding some strips to tie the cushion to prevent it from falling off while we sleep I already had the stitching in advance, but I still added this detail. I cut 2 strips of 30 cm by 7 cm wide and folded them to form them.
Cuando ya tenía el diseño hasta aquí, se me ocurrió agregar unas tiras para atar el cojín y así evitar que se caiga mientras dormimos Ya tenía la costura adelantada, pero igual le agregué este detalle. Corté 2 tiras de 30 cms por 7 cms de ancho y las doble para formarlas.
I sewed them straight stitch and see how nice they looked.
Les pasé costura recta y ve que lindas quedaron.
Although this brought me a little more work, I preferred to do it to add this utility. So, I just unpicked a little bit, enough to pass the strip, which I tucked and presented on the edge, and then sewed reinforcing or securing the seams. But if you dare to make this model, remember this and sew the strips before closing the piece.
Aunque esto me trajo un poco de más trabajo, preferí hacerlo para agregarle esta utilidad. De manera que, solo descosí un poco, suficiente para pasar la tira, la cual metí y presenté en el borde, y luego cosí reforzando o asegurando las costuras. Pero si te animas a hacer este modelo, recuerda esto y cose las tiras antes de cerrar la pieza.
By turning the piece over the space I left unsewn, you can see the well stitched strips.
Al voltear la pieza por el espacio que dejé sin coser, se pueden apreciar las tiras bien cosidas.
Now comes the fun part, which is stuffing. I used a lot of synthetic stuffing, so that it would be well formed and the cushion would not flatten with use. Given the stuffing material it will maintain its softness even if it is well stuffed.
Ahora viene lo divertido que es rellenar. Yo usé bastante relleno sintético, para que quedara bien formado y que no se aplane el cojín con el uso. Dado el material de relleno va a mantener la suavidad aunque esté bien relleno.
It is very important to use a quality filling, because it is very, very soft, and when I fill it well, the balls of the filling disappear and everything becomes unified, achieving a really soft texture.
Es demasiado importante usar un relleno de calidad, ya que es muy, muy suave, y no cuando voy rellenando bien se van desapareciendo las bolas del relleno y se va unificando todo, logrando una textura muy suave realmente.
I continue to stuff the other end. I really didn't skimp on the amount of stuffing. I wanted it to be Commercial Quality so I stuffed a lot of synthetic stuffing in tightly.
Sigo rellenando el otro extremo. Realmente no escatimé en la cantidad de relleno. Quería que quedara con Calidad Comercial así que metí bastante relleno sintético y bien apretado.
Now I just have to sew the opening , for this I will use my needle and thread, and I made a Hidden Seam which I love to do, because it looks like magic, as you pull it all together inwards.... I love to sew by hand too ❤️❤️
Ahora solo me queda coser la apertura , para ello usaré mi aguja e hilo, y realicé una Costura Escondida que me encanta hacerla, porque parece magia, al halar se va uniendo todo hacia adentro... Me encanta coser a mano también ❤️❤️

As I mentioned before, I made this design by observing a Commercial Design, and trying to replicate it, and to my own surprise it was quite similar both in what can be seen with the naked eye, and the sensations you get when you touch it and squeeze it, you automatically want it.
Como les había comentado anteriormente, este diseño lo hice observando un Diseño Comercial, y tratando de replicarlo, y para mi propia sorpresa quedó bastante parecido tanto en lo que se aprecia a simple vista, como las sensaciones que tiene uno cuando lo toca y lo aprieta, es que lo quieres automáticamente.

Nunca he usado uno de estos para viajar, pero cuando lo toqué en una tienda q visité y pude sentir lo suave y agradable q era me dije: Tengo que hacerlo yo misma..! Una genialidad de proyecto. Siempre me ha fascinado todo lo que se puede hacer con las costuras. Sin duda es un habilidad muy útil para muchas cosas. El diseño y los pasos están increíbles. ¡Y esas fotos! Demasiado buenas. Es un tutorial excelente para cualquier persona que quiera intentar hacerse este tipo de almohada, que de paso es muy útil para los viajes o acostarse a comentar públicaciones por acá.
Lástima que la máquina de la casa está mala. De lo contrario, lo intentaría.

Excelente trabajo amiga. Tenía un cojpín de viaje que me encantaba pero creo que lo dañé metiendolo en la lavadora porque era de tela algo delicada, aunque lo usaba mas para dormir que como cojín de cuello. Pero tu publicación esta genial para hacer uno nuevo, muchas gracias, te quedó excelente ❤️

Amiga no sabes cuanta falta me hizo un cojín de esos en mi época de estudiante, viajaba todos los días a las ciudade y eran viajes largos de ida y vuelta, actualmente mi cervical no anda bien y yo le atribuyo eso además de mi trabajo con las manualidad, el haber viajado tantos años a diario en esos asientos tan incómodos para el cuello, por eso me encanta el contenido que nos compartes para la elaborar de ese cojín tan útil. Gracias amiga @bleuclair realmente es excelente para el cuello, no puedo creer todo el tiempo que he vivido sin darle ese poquito de amor a mi cuello, es buenísimo para relajar y con este diseño aporta un buen soporte de descanso total, además por el mismo diseño puedes recostar la cabeza ligeramente hacia un lado u otro, tal cual una almohada.
