Walk through the historic center of the city (Eng/Esp)
English version
Walking around the Basilica of Santa Inés is always pleasant because you pass through the historic center of the city, an area that remains untouched by the turmoil of everyday life in the country. On this route, from Comercio Street to Plaza Rivero, passing through Sucre Street, you can have a good time, especially in the afternoons.

On this occasion, in the evening, mass was being held and there was a public event at Casa Ramos Sucre. On several occasions, the Department of Culture, located next to the church, has organized art exhibitions and street theater. In the afternoons, the area also comes alive with children and young people leaving the Blue Home educational center.

After walking to the square, I decided to return via Santa Inés alley and then pass through the iconic The Scorpion alley, famous for appearing in countless paintings where the Basilica can be seen from its unique angle. I took the opportunity to take several photographs and appreciate the changes compared to the paintings. Interestingly, in none of the canvases I have seen are there any people walking or even present in the composition; only the buildings appear as protagonists.

From The Scorpion alley, I decided once again to head to Calle Comercio and from there make my way home via Plaza Bolívar, where there were quite a few people, especially children, waiting for the Christmas lights to be turned on at 6 p.m.
