My Visit to Andres Eloy Blanco Square (Eng/Esp)

Today’s destination takes me to Andrés Eloy Blanco Square (1897–1955), located across from the Cathedral, a very busy area due to its proximity to downtown. This public space is very pleasant; in fact, there are always children running around and older adults playing board games, passing the time and enjoying themselves.
In the morning, there’s quite a bit of foot traffic, and in the afternoon, the atmosphere is very peaceful—it’s like feeling sheltered under the shade of many trees, with the wind blowing strongly, reminding us that we’re alive. The view of the gardens is pleasant, though they could use more greenery and flowering plants.
Unfortunately, the bust of the illustrious poet is no longer there, but on its pedestal you can read: “And so, having arrived at the home of my childhood,my heart, returned from your death,is illuminated by a year of your light. Moon of Cumaná, to understand you, the lullaby lamp that lulls me to sleep and the shutter of voice that wakes me.” So we are enveloped in an atmosphere full of poetry that marks a specific era for us.
On another side of this pedestal, a quote from the poet stands out: “Intolerance is the path that does not lead to the home of mankind but to the den of revelry,” inviting us to be empathetic toward others and thus respect their opinions; we can all coexist in a multiplural world.
Similarly, I think the lighting in the plaza is perfect for sitting down to read a book while enjoying your time there. You just have to be very careful, as some trees are lifting the pavement because their roots are spreading across the ground.
Recently, a striking mural was painted across from this spot, featuring an animal as the main character: Tsunami, the dog who helped rescue several people during the double earthquake in Venezuela.
Being here filled me with positive energy and made me reflect on life and how fragile we are; that's why we should make the most of every minute and show love to the people we care about.

El destino de hoy me lleva a la plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco (1897-1955), ubicada frente a la iglesia Catedral, un espacio muy transitado por estar cerca del centro de la ciudad. Este lugar público es muy agradable, de hecho siempre hay niños corriendo y adultos mayores jugando algunos juegos de mesa, así pasan el rato para distraerse.
En la mañana hay bastante movimiento de personas y en tarde se respira mucha paz, es como sentirse cobijado bajo la sombra de muchos árboles, el viento sopla fuerte y nos recuerda que estamos vivos. La vista de los jardines es agradable, aunque le falta más vegetación y plantas florales.
Lastimosamente ya no se encuentra el busto del ilustre poeta, pero en su pedestal se puede leer: "Y así al solar de mi niñez llegado,mi corazón devuelto de tu muerte a un año de tu luz e iluminado. Luna de Cumaná para entenderte, la lámpara de arrullo que me duerma y el postigo de voz que me despierte." Así que estamos envueltos en un ambiente lleno de poesía que nos marca una época específica.
En otro lado de este pedastal destaca un pensamiento del poeta: "La intolerancia es el camino que no tuerce hacia el hogar de los hombres sino hacia el antro de las fiestas", donde se nos invita a ser empáticos con los otros y así respetar sus opiniones, todos podemos convivir en un mundo multiplural.
De igual forma, considero que en la plaza la iluminación es perfecta para sentarse a leer un libro mientras se disfruta de la estadía. Solo hay que tener mucho cuidado, pues algunos árboles se están levantando el piso, dado que sus raíces se están extendiendo por el terreno.
Recientemente dibujaron un vistoso mural, frente a este lugar, el cual tiene a un animal como protagonista, se trata de Tsunami, el perro que ayudó a rescatar a diferentes personas cuando ocurrió el doble terremoto en Venezuela.
Estar acá me llenó de buena vibra y me hizo reflexionar sobre la vida, lo frágiles que somos, por eso debemos aprovechar cada minuto al máximo y demostrar amor a las personas que amamos.
