Letrero decorativo para la verja 🍓

Hola amigos de la comunidad!

Un abrazo para todos, espero se encuentren muy bien, el dia de hoy he venido a mostrarles una nueva manualidad en casa, se trata de un colorido y pintoresco letrero para la verja de la casa, desde que hicimos la carpintería correspondiente para renovar la verja de la casa de mi madre, había pensado en colocar un bonito letrero con la frase "Home, Sweet home" hogar dulce hogar escrito en ingles y ayer debido al corte eléctrico tuve mucho tiempo para buscar el material y moldearlo a la forma que quería, a continuacion les mostraré un poco del proceso, espero sea de su agrado.

Hugs to everyone—I hope you’re all doing great. Today I’m here to show you a new DIY project for the house: a colorful and charming sign for the front gate. Ever since we did the carpentry work to renovate the gate at my mother’s house, I’d been thinking about putting up a pretty sign with the phrase “Home, Sweet Home” written in English. Yesterday, because of the power outage, I had plenty of time to gather the materials and shape them into the design I wanted. Below, I’ll show you a bit of the process—I hope you like it.

Mi primera idea era que cada una de las palabras de la frase estuvieran escritas en un tablon de madera diferente, pero entre las maderas que conseguí una más ancha que la otra, así que decidí escribir HOME SWEET en el más grueso y HOME en la más fina.

Para el primer tablon dibuje una forma de corchea que luego moldee usando diferentes herramientas y finalmente limando los bordes hasta perfeccionar la forma, para el segundo tablón la forma que dibuje fue de forma de punta.

My initial idea was to have each word in the phrase written on a different wooden plank, but among the pieces of wood I found, one was wider than the other, so I decided to write “HOME SWEET” on the thicker one and “HOME” on the thinner one.

For the first plank, I drew an eighth-note shape, which I then carved using different tools and finally filed down the edges until the shape was perfect; for the second plank, I drew a pointed shape.

Para el estilo de la tipografia y dibujos fue totalmente improvisado, solo tenía claro la frase, tampoco contaba con demasiados colores jaja, así que use letras mayúsculas sin serif para la frase y considerando los colores que tenía solo podía dibujar cosas muy específicas, así que con el mismo color de las letras dibuje algunas fresas alrededor y luego unas pequeñas flores blancas, seguidas de una enredaderas de la planta, al terminar este invento estaba bastante satisfecha con el resultado. Para rematar pinte las puntas de cada tablón con color azul claro.

As for the typography and illustrations, it was all completely improvised—I only knew the phrase for sure, and I didn’t have many colors to work with either, haha, so I used sans-serif uppercase letters for the phrase, and given the colors I had, I could only draw very specific things. So, using the same color as the letters, I drew some strawberries around it, then some small white flowers, followed by some vines from the plant. When I finished this little creation, I was pretty satisfied with the result. To top it off, I painted the ends of each plank light blue.

Finalizados los dos tablones lucen así, me gusto mucho la combinación de estos colores y formas juntas, a partir de aquí recibe un poco de ayuda de mi hermano para colocar algunos clavos para poder colocar ambas piezas en su lugar y luego también creo una mezcla de anime (poliestireno) y gasolina para crear una resina para proteger la pintura y la madera de la intemperie.

Once the two planks were finished, they looked like this. I really liked the combination of these colors and shapes together. From there, I got a little help from my brother to hammer in some nails so I could secure both pieces in place, and then I also mixed some anime (polystyrene) with gasoline to create a resin that would protect the paint and wood from the elements.

Ambos tablones luego fueron unido usando el eslabo de una cadena que teníamos en casa y así quedo dispuesto sobre la verja de la casa, el barniz hizo que las tablas adquirieron un tono más vivo, pero el color rojo quedó un poco opacado, sin embargo todo quedó muy bonito y colorido, además que me encanta como quedó sobre la puerta de la verja, espero que también haya sido de su gusto.

Both boards were then joined together using a chain link we had at home, and that’s how it ended up mounted on the gate. The varnish made the boards take on a more vibrant hue, but the red color was slightly muted. Still, everything turned out very pretty and colorful, and I love how it looks on the gate. I hope you liked it, too.
