Lichen Beast - Splinterlands Art Contest 269

Nuevamente me uno al concurso esta vez en la ronda 269 para esta oportunidad decidí hacer mi versión de Lichen Beast al ver la ilustración de esta carta me llamó mucho la atención por su diseño, pero no estaba segura de que tipo de animal se trataba hasta que leí el Lore del personaje y supe que en realidad se trata de una Bestia similar a un oso, cuyo composición consiste en hojas, fango, piedras y plantas del bosque y que en realidad es un protector de la fauna.

Again I join the contest this time in the round 269 for this opportunity I decided to make my version of Lichen Beast when I saw the illustration of this card it caught my attention because of its design, but I wasn't sure what kind of animal it was until I read the character's Lore and learned that it is actually a bear-like Beast, whose composition consists of leaves, mud, stones and plants of the forest and that it is actually a protector of the fauna.

Luego que tuve claro que tipo de animal y su rol, procedí a buscar algunas referencias de osos y su estructura ósea, para dibujar mi versión de esta Bestia, mi primer dibujo lo mostraba de frente, pero no conseguí que este boceto me gustará lo suficiente, luego dibuje esta segunda versión esta vez de perfil en una pose feroz con su mandíbula completamente abierta, y luego que obtuve su postura comencé a dibujar algunos troncos y plantas sobresalientes de su cuerpo.

After I was clear about the type of animal and its role, I proceeded to look for some references of bears and their bone structure, to draw my version of this Beast, my first drawing showed it from the front, but I didn't like this sketch enough, then I drew this second version this time in profile in a fierce pose with its jaw wide open, and after I got its posture I started to draw some trunks and plants protruding from its body.

A continuación comencé a colorear, primero dibuje una gran mancha verde sobre la cual fui definiendo basado en el dibujo anterior las características del oso, usando diferentes tonos de verde para crear la tridimensionalidad de su cabeza y su hocico abierto, como pincel he usado como siempre mi pincel favorito con textura de cerdas gruesas, pero esta vez procure superponer las capaz para generar la sensación de pasto o pelaje.

Then I began to color, first I drew a large green spot on which I defined the characteristics of the bear based on the previous drawing, using different shades of green to create the three-dimensionality of his head and his open snout, as a brush I used as always my favorite brush with thick bristle texture, but this time I tried to superimpose the capable to generate the feeling of grass or fur.

Seguidamente añadí las partes que tendrían textura de madera, para ello cambie el color de mi pincel con un tono de café oscuro y pinte su hocico, las púas en su espalda y las garras, luego de colocar esta primera base de marrón comencé a definir las vetas de la madera, también en este punto dibuje algunas pequeñas plantas con tiernas hojas sobresalientes de entre las ramas de su lomo.

Then I added the parts that would have the texture of wood, for this I changed the color of my brush with a dark brown tone and painted his snout, the barbs on his back and claws, after placing this first base of brown I began to define the wood grain, also at this point I drew some small plants with tender leaves protruding from between the branches of his back.

Por último solo estuve retocando un poco aquí y allá, mejorando algunos detallitos que parecen casi imperceptibles al ver las imágenes juntas, luego procedí a definir mejor el fondo, al ver la importancia del verde en el animal, decidí hacer un ambiente algo más frío y hacer algo de nieve en la superficie del suelo y también aproveche para dibujar algunos copos de nieve cayendo desde el cielo.

Finally I was just retouching a little here and there, improving some details that seem almost imperceptible when you see the images together, then I proceeded to better define the background, seeing the importance of green in the animal, I decided to make a somewhat colder environment and make some snow on the surface of the ground and also took the opportunity to draw some snowflakes falling from the sky.
