Five Minutes Free Write : Spider man

It was hero's day at my son's school and I knew no peace as he kept singing that he wanted to dress as spider man, he's favorite hero in his cartoons. He was actually obsessed or should I say attached to this and as parents we weren't ignorant of this. We ensured almost everything he got had the spider man's design, ranging from school bag, comic books, wall papers, toys, bedspread and clothing's as well. So when he insisted he wanted to dress as his hero, I wasn't surprised at all but then I was scared that he paid more attention to these comics than his academics as he had really poor grades but how do I separate him from what he loves. This might be a great blow to him as it might affect him emotionally and who knows psychologically. I tried talking to a friend who advised I enrolled him for a karate class, acting academy or writing class for comics but I really don't want to be hard on him. I want the best for my son but what has to be done, has to be done to make him an asset in the society.
