PopUp We Write Contest : The Completion Story

The test results wouldn't be posted for at least another hour. While she waited for them to be plastered to the gym door for all to see, Janie made her breakfast in the nearby park.

Breakfast consisted of a paper bag, the bottom lined with raw bacon, a couple of eggs cracked on top, a stick poked through the top of the bag, and the whole thing held over hot coals in a grill. She was alone this day, the way she wanted to be. Those test results were scaring the pants off of her. If she didn't score 100 on the math final, she was going to have to actually eat a hat.

Janie had been trying to decide which hat for two days now. The smaller the better of course, but it also mattered what material! She couldn't stand the taste of cashmere - too goat-y. Cotton she thought, which would probably be least likely to upset her stomach, especially after a breakfast of bacon and eggs cooked in a paper bag over coal.

Jason had put the bet to her. The lower score would lose. If they tied, no one would have to eat a hat. Jason would likely get 100, so she had to, too.

She was still lost in her thoughts and didn't observe the choas that was happening. There was a fire outbreak and everyone was running off to safety. Excuse me ma,am Excuse me ma,am Excuse me ma,am. She jerked and turned around on the 3rd call after he tapped her on the shoulder. He wore the tag 'manager'. Wow, he was so handsome, with pointed eyes, glaring bold ears. His hair swinging as he spoke and he was pointing directions but she couldn't hear a word of what he was saying, she simply sat there staring. Was she cold? or did the world pause a while? Adjusting the table, he swept her off the ground and ran out with her until they arrived at the muster point where everyone one else was.

Only then did she realize what was going on.
She finally muttered a soft thankyou
Hey, are you okay? He said, you blanked out while awake. Is it something you want to talk about?
I'm Marcus, the manager of the restaurant and I want to apologize for the fire outbreak. It was an accident from the kitchen axis but the fire men are on it.
No, no, no, it was happening again. She was blanking out but she struggled to slap herself back while hitting her face.
Hey, you're hurting yourself
I'm sorry, Janie muttered
Can we take a walk and get ice cream over there? That should make you feel better, Marcus said.
Yes please, Janie said
I can take my mind off those results for a while, she thought.
Grabbing her hands, they walked away.

It seems Janie has forgotten all about the test and the hat. Love at first sight, and all else left her consciousness. Nice job!

Thanks for joining in on the fun! Look for your prize in about one week.
