The pride of a true Igbo African in marriage is having a male child, who would be his heir for his legacy and name since the females would be married off and have their names changed to that of their husbands’. Beatrice had been six years in marriage and had two girls for her husband -a strong believer in having male children.
Paul had started causing troubles with his wife Beatrice over not bearing male kids. He had his family really sad, uncomfortable and went further to conceive thoughts of taking in a new wife of which he didn’t delay in his plans. He brought in another woman to be home. This made an emotionally unstable Beatrice leave her matrimonial home. Paul didn’t hesitate to flunct his to-be-bride on the blue app showing her off to whomever cared or had an interest to know. Few months in she and taken in. Traditionally, all marriage rites are expected to come to a pause in an occurrence of taking in till the child is born but things didn’t go well for the new lovers as the expected child was lost due to a miscarriage.
Paul was frustrated and broken due to this, he left home, paying a visit to his first wife. Why is all these happening to me, Beea? -he asked, you only need to be patient with God, He only would do His thing at his own time she said giving him a big comforting hug - a hug that spurred up feelings Paul thought he had lost. As he raised his eyes and took a look at her, the tears in her eyes reminded him of the night he deflowered her, -the naivety in her eyes, the pure love her eyes spelt out, he planted a deep kiss on her lips while surving his left hand gently on the back of her head while his right ran down her neck grabbing her already firm breasts -every thoughts of resisting by Beatrice quickly disappeared as she was covered in deep emotions for the first man she had ever given her body to, he took charge and spurred her to clouds she had long missed. By daybreak, Paul apologized to Beatrice as he hurriedly drove back to meet his home bride who had left tons of calls on his phone. This left Beatrice in greater pains as she greatly missed her home.
Days to weeks, Beatrice had taken ill, on going to the hospital she tested positive on a pregnancy test but for whom she thought-the memories of that night came rushing in. She immediately moved her things out of town to a really far place. Weeks to months -it’s a boy she cried out to her mom as her broke out in songs of joy and happiness. The child was christened without the knowledge of his father until his first birthday.
My guy how far -Richard called Paul, is Beatrice remarried he asked? No why ask, he replied. Check on her blue app timeline, she’s celebrating the 1st birthday of a lad whom she’s addressing as son. A child? One year? A son? Paul pondered. He immediately went into calculations, -that night -it's my son, he said. I have a son and Beatrice never mentioned, a wicked husband I was he cried out. He immediately re-twitted his wife’s post wishing his son a happy birthday and promising to be a better father and husband. The energy from trolls attacking his would be wife was unmatched as they kept coming from different forces.
Paul immediately asked her to leave his house since he was not even married to her yet, I have a family and I need to work on being a better father and husband, he said to her. In reconciliation with his wife, he was asked by her family to pay up traditionally as she no longer lived with him of which he didn’t hesitate to but Beatrice insisted that he had embarrassed her on all the blue app when he started fluncting his other girl, he immediately unfollowed and took down pictures of the other girl, putting up pictures of this his wife and children asking for forgiveness from them, his friends and family. With time Beatrice forgave her husband and returned home with her kids and the other returned to her father’s house too.

The fascinating part of this story for me is the way tradition, that reaches back centuries, blends with modern technology. The other thing is, I really don't like Paul :)

If I were Beatrice I would never trust him

Thank you for using an image from the LIL Gallery.

You're very right @agmoore about the tradition. But to err is human and we should all imbibe forgiveness although it's easier said than done
