RE: Writing recommendations for science articles at hive

#tagspam is a huge problem for all of the tribes on HIVE and not just #STEM.

People get coins for many of the tags. The smart players on the platform simply list the most lucrative tags on all posts regardless of content.

I would love to see an effort to reduce tag spam. For an effort to succeed it needs to be coordinated and the people engaged in the defense of a tag must communicate their intention before starting DV rewards.

BTW: do you have a complete list of the tags used for Stem. I thought they were STEM, StemSocial, Science, Technology, Math and Engineering. Do they ever change?

This page has some STEM configuration info.

The science and technology tags are a little problematic as people often used "technology" on product reviews. People often use "science" in political and philosophical musings. Posts about pseudoscience have a legitimate claim for using the generic term "science."

Good luck in your job as a STEM curator.

Indeed it is. The most abused tag in my knowledge is Leo. Leo should be for finance only but is it used in gaming because they are NFTs and works as an investment. I am totally fine with it too but some giveaway posts of pre-made templates are used over and over and sometimes are curated by big Leo-staked people because of some trail following.

The most lucrative tag is SPT in that sense. I have seen people use spt tag even without talking anything about the game. Problems start when spt votes take that non-splinterlands article on trending of splintertalk. For example curation reports and copypasta info about splinterlands. None of these allow u to be in trending of splintertalk by any chance and then tag police come and DV to remove it from trending and some users behave innocently although they r well aware of their deeds.

Stem social and stem geek both confuse a lot of people. StemGeek is related to the STEM token by markymark. The tags associated with STEM token are stem, science, technology, engineering, math. According to my know knowledge, there is not any association between stemsocial tag and STEM token. The answer to your question is no this list never changes.

In case you see someone miss use a tag, the first thing is to inform him politely. If 3 times, if he refuses to listen you should report to tribe discord (no need for you to misbehave with anyone in any condition even if they are wrong). This will stop malicious token farming.

Good luck in your job as a STEM curator.

Sorry to inform you, that I am not a stem curator "HE IS (@gwajnberg)". I am managing his and others' curation activities. You can join Cartel to understand what I mean by this.
