Second Ride - slowly reconstruction myself

The house pictured above has been under construction for several years. It looks like they are finally rebuilding the walls and adding a roof. I hope that they don't run out of money before completing the project.

Speaking of slow projects, I worked a bit on the bike again today and did a second ride. The odometer changed from 118 to 130.

I have a Garmin Watch. I record a short loop. The watch says the ride was 4.56 miles. This route had only 610 feet in elevation gain. Most of the gain was gradual; so I think I will repeat this loop until my billy-goat legs returns. Since I live on a hillside, most of the routes I used as a kid had several thousand feet in elevation gain.

Continuing the Tire Review

So, I bought new airless tires. These solid rubber tires claim to be puncture proof. This is good because I lost my bike pump.

While riding today the tires developed a really bizarre squeak. I stopped multiple times to diagnose the problem.

I finally discovered that the new tires picked up a small dot of tar from the road. The small dot of tar was enough to make an extremely loud squeak in the new tires.

The 610 feet in elevation gain was enough to leave me winded. But if I can get back to the point where I could do a 2000 foot gain, then I could could start riding my bike to interesting places. With my map I would have both a map and pictures for each trek.
