My own little bee / Mi propia abejita

Do you have bees in your house? I have a little one who is in charge of foraging in my garden every sunrise until she goes to sleep.

If you join me, I'll show you how I made a recycling job out of a piece of baby clothes and an extra piece of fabric.

¿Tiene usted abejas en su casa? Yo tengo una pequeña que es la encargada de libar mi jardín en cada salida del sol, hasta que se va a dormir.

Si me acompaña le muestro cómo realicé un trabajo de reciclado con una pieza de ropa de bebé y un pedazo de tela adicional.

I combined a yellow monkey that was no longer useful for my baby with black stripes, making the piece bigger and so I could use it again with this new modification.

Below you will find everything I needed to create it:

Un monito amarillo que ya no le servía a mi bebé lo combiné con franjas negras, logrando ampliar la pieza y así volver a utilizarlo con esta nueva modificación.

A continuación le expongo todo lo que necesité para crearlo:

• Yellow baby jumpsuit
• Piece of black stretch fabric
• Black sewing thread
• Scissors
• Sewing machine
• Black crayon pencil
• Yellow crayon pencil
• Sewing pins
• Centimetre

Everything is ready, now all that's left is the execution of the project:

• Monito de bebé amarillo
• Trozo de tela elastizada negra
• Hilo de coser negro
• Tijeras
• Máquina de coser
• Lápiz de creyón negro
• Lápiz de creyón amarillo
• Alfileres de costura
• Centímetro

Manos a la obra con todo listo, ahora solo queda la ejecución del proyecto:

The first thing I did was to cut the white bias binding on the sleeves and collar to make the piece wider.

Lo primero que hice fue cortar los bieses blancos de las bocamanga y cuello para así lograr mayor amplitud de la pieza.

I then measured the height of the embroidery on the piece and cut a wider black strip to allow me to fold it inwards when sewing it to the monkey.

Seguidamente medí la altura del bordado de la pieza y corté una tira negra más ancha para que me permitiera doblar hacia adentro al coserla al monito.

I placed a strip over the embroidery and left a section of it outside the piece to cut the armhole, pinned it to the monkey and then sewed it on.

Coloqué una tira por encima del bordado y dejando un tramo hacia afuera de la pieza para luego cortar la sisa, la fijo con alfileres al monito y después cosí.

I cut off the excess black fabric and unpicked a section of the monkey to allow me to sew the black stripe and join the front to the back.

Corté el exceso de tela negra y descosí un tramo del monito para que me permitiera coser la franja negra y unir la parte delantera con la trasera.

I cut the monkey lower and added a black stripe to make it possible to lengthen the size of the piece.

Corté más abajo el monito y le agregué una franja negra que posibilita alargar el tamaño de la pieza.

I cut and sewed 3 centimetre strips to make the sleeve and collar bias binding.

Corté y cosí unas franjas de 3 centímetros para hacer los bises de las mangas y cuello.

For the bottom bias binding I didn't cut the existing ones, as I needed to use the snaps. What I did was to put another black stripe on top of them, leaving the brooches uncovered as you can see in the photo.

Para los bieses de la parte baja no Corté los existentes, pues me era necesario utilizar los broches. Lo que hice fue que encima de ellos le coloqué otra franja negra, dejando descubiertos los broches como se observa en la foto.

This is how the renewed bee-themed piece inspired by the contest of this community is ready.

My baby looks very comfortable in her new outfit and is fluttering around my garden like a worthy little bee from my honeycomb.

De esta forma quedó lista la pieza renovada con temática de abejita inspirada en el concurso de esta comunidad.

Mi bebé se ve muy cómoda con su nuevo atuendo y anda revoloteando en mi jardín como digna abejita de mi panal.
