Hallo zusammen,

Vor ungefähr zwei Wochen hatte ich schon einmal über unseren Urlaub auf Ameland berichtet. In diesem Beitrag ging es allerdings vor allem um Allgemeines zur Insel und unser Ankommen auf der Insel.

Jetzt möchte ich euch zeigen, was wir denn so dort alles gemacht haben und was es für Möglichkeiten dort auf der Insel gibt um sich zu beschäftigen. Heute geht es um eine Fahrradtour von Nes bis zum Leuchtturm nach Hollum.

Wenn man die Strecke bei Google-Maps ansieht, dann benötigt man für diese 15 km lange Strecke ungefähr 45 Minuten. Was Google allerdings nicht berücksichtigt, ist der Wind, der auf so einer Insel weht.

Am Ende haben wir ungefähr die doppelte Zeit gebraucht. Unsere Tochter brauchte zwischendurch einige Pausen. Den Wind kann man in etwa an den Haaren erkennen.

Für den Hinweg haben wir den Weg entlang des Deiches genommen. Ein ziemlicher "Scheiß-Weg" möchte man meinen. Auf den Deichen laufen nämlich auch hunderte von Schafen umher und hinterlassen so einiges an biologischem Abfall auf den Wegen.

Nicht nur die Schafe hinterlassen etwas, nein auch die Touristen hinterlassen hin und wieder etwas, und das obwohl entlang des Weges mehrere Mülltonnen aufgestellt sind. Die Dose habe ich dann ordnungsgemäß entsorgt. Wer weiß, ob man solche Bilder braucht für einen @cleanplanet Beitrag.

In der Nähe der Ballumer Bucht findet man diese Statuen der Deichwächter. Die zwei hatten Erfolg, der Deich ist noch da.

Weiter geht die Fahrt in Richtung Hollum. So langsam kann man den Leuchtturm auch bereits in der Entfernung erkennen.

Im ersten Bild befinden wir uns kurz vor Hollum. Im zweiten Bild sind wir dann auch in dem kleinen Dorf angekommen. Wir haben uns hier nur kurz umgesehen, haben ein schnelles Picknick zu uns genommen und sind dann das letzte Stück Richtung Leuchtturm gefahren.

Kurz hinter Hollum mussten wir bereits die nächste Pause einlegen, da unsere Tochter sich die Pferde ansehen wollte. Wie man sehen kann, ist der Weg bis zum Leuchtturm jetzt nicht mehr weit.

Kurze Zeit später sind wir dann angekommen und der aus Gusseisen gefertigte und 55 Meter Hohe Leuchtturm lag direkt vor uns. Ehrlich gesagt war ich etwas überrascht. Alle Leuchttürme, die ich zuvor besichtigt hatte, waren aus Stein gefertigt.

Da wir jetzt solang bis hierhin gefahren sind, haben wir auch den Eintrittspreis von € 6,30 (Erwachsener) bzw. € 4,80 (Kind) bezahlt und sind im Inneren des Turmes bis nach oben zur Aussichtsplattform geklettert. Im Inneren des Leuchtturmes kann man mehr über den Bau der Leuchttürme erfahren und auch über die Arbeit, die die Leuchtturmwächter gemacht haben bzw. auch noch machen.

Der Wind unten war an diesem Tag schon kräftig, aber dort oben auf der Plattform war dieser noch viel heftiger und er schien auch deutlich kälter zu sein.
Dennoch haben wir den Ausblick durch die Gitterstäbe hindurch für eine kurze Zeit genossen bevor wir mit dem Abstieg begonnen sind.

Auf dem Rückweg haben wir dann den direkten Weg über die Hauptstraße genommen. Wir hatten also den Wind im Rücken und man brauchte tatsächlich nicht zu treten um Vorwärts zu kommen.

Auf ungefähr halber Strecke in Ballum sind wir an einem Reiterhof vorbeigekommen. Hier haben wir für unsere Tochter für den nächsten Tag einen Ausritt gebucht. Hiervon gibt es dann vielleicht den nächsten Beitrag.

About two weeks ago I had already reported about our vacation on Ameland. In this article, however, it was mainly about general information about the island and our arrival on the island.

Now I would like to show you what we have done there so everything and what there are possibilities there on the island to keep busy. Today it's about a bike ride from Nes to the lighthouse in Hollum.

In the end, we needed about twice the time. Our daughter needed some breaks in between. You can see the wind in about the hair.

For the way there, we took the path along the dike. A pretty "shit way" one would think. On the dikes run namely also hundreds of sheep around and leave quite a bit of biological waste on the paths.

Not only the sheep leave something, no also the tourists leave now and then something, and that although along the way several garbage cans are set up. The can I have then properly disposed of. Who knows if you need such pictures for a @cleanplanet contribution.

Near Ballum Bay you can find these statues of dike keepers. The two were successful, the dike is still there.

The journey continues in the direction of Hollum. Slowly you can see the lighthouse in the distance.

In the first picture we are just before Hollum. In the second picture we have arrived in the small village. We only had a short look around, had a quick picnic and then drove the last part towards the lighthouse.

Shortly after Hollum we already had to take the next break, because our daughter wanted to look at the horses. As you can see, the way to the lighthouse is not far now.

A short time later we arrived and the lighthouse, made of cast iron and 55 meters high, was right in front of us. To be honest, I was a little surprised. All the lighthouses I had visited before were made of stone.

Since we have now driven so long to here, we have also paid the entrance fee of € 6.30 (adult) or € 4.80 (child) and climbed inside the tower to the top of the viewing platform. Inside the lighthouse you can learn more about the construction of lighthouses and also about the work that the lighthouse keepers have done or still do.

The wind down below was already strong that day, but up there on the platform it was much stronger and it also seemed to be much colder.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed the view through the bars for a short time before we started our descent.

On the way back we took the direct way over the main road. So we had the wind at our backs and you really didn't need to pedal to get ahead.

About halfway in Ballum we passed a horse farm. Here we booked a ride for our daughter for the next day. Of this there is then perhaps the next post.
