CineTV Contest: Bake Off U.K.
Approximately in the year 2020 I began to watch the television program called Bake Off from the United Kingdom, this was broadcast by the Discovery Home & Health Latin America pay channel, as pastry lovers that I am, I felt hooked on this program for a long time, i was able to follow it as much as i could but after a while i couldn't keep paying for the cable tv service and i lost track of the show, however i consider it to be one of the best cooking shows and i tell you my reasons.
Aproximadamente en el año 2020 comencé a ver el programa de Televisión llamada Bake Off del Reino Unido, este era transmitido por el canal de pago Discovery Home &Health Latinoamérica, como amantes de la repostería que soy me sentí enganchada a este programa por un buen tiempo, pude seguirlo lo más que pude pero después de un tiempo no pude seguir pagando el servicio de televisión por cable y perdí la pista del programa, sin embargo, considero que es uno de los mejores programas de cocina y les digo mis razones.
First of all, it is a program that brings together people from different parts of the United Kingdom, these people sometimes have very different professions and also very different ages, I like that there is no age gap for the participants, I really liked seeing people retirees sharing with young people who were barely over 20 years old, also people who had important careers sharing with people dedicated to the home, I really liked that on one occasion there was a participant who was quite old and who dedicated his life to gardening and was one One of the best on the show. Something that I also really liked about this program is the climate of calm and respect that manifests itself in the dynamics of the contest, I don't like those cooking contests where there is a chef or a rude jury, where the work of a participant is devalued and humiliates him, in Bake Off that doesn't happen at any time, the jury is respectful even when they need to make a negative criticism they do it in a very polite way. The program had the characteristic of being very calm and fun, it is relaxing for me.
En primer lugar es un programa que convoca a personas de diferentes partes del Reino Unido, estas personas a veces tienen profesiones muy variadas y también edades muy diferentes, me gusta que no haya una brecha de dad para los participantes, me gusto mucho ver a personas jubiladas compartiendo con jóvenes que apenas pasaban de 20 años, también a personas que tenían carreras importantes compartir con personas dedicadas al hogar, me gusto mucho que en una ocasión había un participante que era bastante mayor y que dedicó su vida a la jardinería y era uno de los mejores en el programa. Algo que también me gustó mucho de este programa es el clima de tranquilidad y respeto que se manifiesta en la dinámica del concurso, no me gusta para nada esos concursos de cocina donde hay un chef o un jurado grosero, donde desvalorización el trabajo de algún participante y lo humilla, en Bake Off no pasa eso en ningún momento, el jurado es respetuoso incluso cuando necesitan hacer una crítica negativa lo hacen de una forma muy educada. El programa tenía la característica de ser muy tranquilo y divertido es relajante para mi.
I like that the contestants are all under a canopy in a garden doing their preparations, I think it gives it a lovely cozy atmosphere, although sometimes it rained outside because the weather is unpredictable, this put even more of a challenge on them contestants than they had to work considering the humidity of the environment and how this would influence the baking of their preparations. Something that I really liked is that each week the challenges were divided into parts, the first day they did a technical challenge, where everyone was in the same situation, everyone was given a recipe with general instructions about a specific dessert and These, being in the same conditions, stood out due to their abilities to follow the instructions of the recipe, but also to add their intuition and experience as pastry chefs.
Me gusta que los participantes estén todo en un toldo en un jardín haciendo sus preparaciones, me parece que le da un ambiente encantador y acogedor, aunque a veces llovía en el exterior porque el clima es impredecible, esto ponía aún más reto sobre ellos concursantes que debían trabajar considerando la humedad del ambiente y como esto influiría en el horneado de sus preparaciones. Algo que me gustaba mucho es que cada semana los retos se dividían en partes, el primer día ellos hacían un desafío técnico, en donde todos estaban en la misma situación, a todos se les daba una receta con instrucciones generales acerca de un postre específico y estos al estar en iguales condiciones destacaban debido a sus habilidades para seguir las instrucciones de la receta, pero además agregar su intuición y experiencia como pasteleros.
In the second challenge, the participants had to make a work of art with their recipes, something that I really liked is that the program presents beautiful drawings of each contestant's plan to carry out their baking work of art. I had the opportunity to see many recipes but sometimes the names are difficult to remember because they are in English, but something I really liked is that when they present a recipe as a technical challenge they made a small historical synthesis of the recipe, from which it originated from and what its characteristics were, I was able to learn a little about European culture in this program, although there were things that I did not like very much, for example, the recipe that I liked the least was one where it was like a kind of bread that had meat inside, for me as a Venezuelan it is a bit strange to see that there is meat inside a bread and that is why it did not seem to me the most appetizing recipe of the competition.
En el segundo desafío los participantes debían hacer una obra de arte con sus recetas, algo que me gustaba mucho es que el programa presenta unos dibujos hermosos del plan de cada concursante para llevar a cabo su obra de arte de horneado. Tuve la oportunidad de ver muchas recetas pero a veces los nombres por ser en inglés se me hacen difíciles de recordar, pero algo que me gustaba mucho es que ellos al presentar una receta como reto técnico hacían una pequeña síntesis histórica de la receta, de donde originaba y cuales eran sus características, pude conocer un poco hacerla de la cultura europea en este programa, aunque hubo cosas que no me gustaron mucho, por ejemplo, la receta que menos me gustó fue una donde esta era como una especie de pan que tenía carne por dentro, para mi como venezolana es un poco extraño ver que haya carne dentro de un pan y por eso no me pareció la receta más apetitosa de la competencia.
My favorite challenges were when they asked the contestants to take a cookie portrait or selfie, these participants did an excellent job, something that surprised me because for example if I were in that situation I would be eliminated from the competition, because I love baking cookies but I'm a very bad cartoonist, so making my cookies look like a selfie would be impossible for me.
Mis retos favoritos fue cuando le pidieron a los concursantes hacer un retrato o selfie de galleta, estos participantes hicieron un excelente trabajo, algo que me sorprendió porque por ejemplo si yo estuviese en esa situación saldría eliminada de la competencia, porque yo adoro hornear galletas pero soy muy mala dibujante, así que hacer que mis galletas se vieran como una selfie seria imposible para mi.
