I hadn’t seen my son Jeremías for about two weeks; for one reason or another, he hasn’t been able to travel to be with me. Most of the time, I’d pick him up at his mom’s house, but since she’s been going to Barquisimeto on Fridays for business, I take the opportunity to pick up my son and take him home for the weekend or however many days he’s available. The truth is that in recent weeks, we hadn’t been able to coordinate that arrangement.

At school, due to a scheduling conflict, they reduced my hours, which allows me to leave earlier than planned. So today, I didn’t think twice and headed over to the “Alí Primera” housing complex.

Tenía dos semanas aproximadamente sin ver a mi hijo Jeremías, por una u otra razón no ha podido viajar para estar conmigo. La mayoría de las veces lo venía a buscar a la casa de su mamá, pero como ella ha estado yendo los viernes a la ciudad de Barquisimeto por cuestiones de negocio, entonces yo aprovecho para recibir al hijo y llevármelo a casa por el fin de semana o los días que se disponga. Lo cierto es que en estas últimas semanas no habíamos podido coordinar esa dinámica.

En el liceo, por cuestiones de un choque de horarios, me bajaron unas horas, lo cual permite que pueda salir antes de lo previsto. Así que hoy no me lo pensé dos veces y me dejé venir hasta el complejo habitacional "Alí Primera".

Right now I'm sitting next to my son, chatting, in one of the vans at the complex. I'm still amazed by the architecture of these towers; they're perfectly oriented, allowing the breeze to circulate among the walkways, which is perfect for sitting and chatting on hot afternoons in Barquisimeto.

Ahora mismo estoy sentado junto a mi hijo conversando, sentado en una de las camionetas del complejo. Todavía me sorprende la arquitectura de estas torres, están ubicadas en una orientación perfecta, permite que la brisa pueda circular entre las caminerías, lo cual es perfecto para sentarse a conversar en las tardes calurosas de Barquisimeto.

Me gusta el orden, las simetrías que se pueden apreciar y la profundidad del espacio. En verdad es algo superespecial y mas si estás viendo aquí en vivo.

I was invited inside the apartment, but I preferred to talk with his son out there in the parking lot, where we could have some privacy and really connect amid our knowing smiles. He’s the one who talks to me the most, and, well, I’m a great listener to his witty remarks, so we took advantage of the nice shade, the breeze, and the beautiful scenery around us.

Estaba invitado a pasar al apartamento, pero preferí conversar con el hijo ahí afuera en el estacionamiento en busca de privacidad, para poder conectar en medio de nuestras sonrisas cómplices. Él es quien mas me conversa y, pues, yo soy un gran oyente de sus ocurrencias, aprovechamos la buena sombra, la brisa y el gran paisaje del entorno.
