Pantheon Square / Plaza Panteón

Caracas is still for me an unknown place, full of spaces to discover, a huge world that I never get tired of exploring, for that reason these days I decided to go further downtown, I began to walk the streets heading north following the signs pointing to the National Pantheon, it turns out that the boulevard that runs to there is a very interesting space, full of trees and many old structures, but the most impressive thing happens when you get to the vicinity of the National Library and the so-called Liberator Forum, because it is at that moment when the magnificence of the National Pantheon, the Mausoleum of the Liberator and the National Library give us one of the most interesting spaces with which the city has.

Caracas sigue siendo para mi un lugar desconocido, lleno de espacios por descubrir, un mundo inmenso que no me canso de explorar, por esa razón en estos días decidí ir más allá centro, comencé a recorrer las calles con dirección al norte siguiendo las señalizaciones que apuntaban al Panteón Nacional, resulta que el boulevard que discurre hasta allá es un espacio muy interesante, lleno de árboles y muchas estructuras viejas, pero lo más impresionante ocurre cuando se llega a las inmediaciones de la Biblioteca Nacional y el llamado Foro Libertador, pues es en ese momento cuando la magnificencia del Panteón Nacional, El Mausoleo del Libertador y la Biblioteca Nacional nos regalan uno de los espacios más interesantes con los que cuenta la ciudad.

The esplanade at the entrance of the National Pantheon is a tremendously wide place surrounded by small steps, which creates the ideal environment for military parades and patriotic celebrations, both the stairs and the steps are made of a very fine black granite, which matches the cauldrons and at the same time stands out against the clear facade of the building and the aluminum railings, which give a very interesting touch to the work.

La explanada que se encuentra a la entrada del Panteón Nacional es un lugar tremendamente amplio y rodeado por pequeñas gradas, lo cual genera el ambiente ideal para paradas militares y celebraciones patrióticas, tanto las escaleras, como las gradas están elaboradas en un muy fino granito de color negro, el cual hace juego con los pebeteros y al mismo tiempo resalta frente a la fachada clara del edificio y los pasamanos de aluminio, los cuales le brindan un toque muy interesante a la obra.

But because it was a holiday the Pantheon was closed, which was not a reason for sadness, but on the contrary, it encouraged me to walk around and get to know its surroundings, just on one side of the whole complex is located the so-called Pantheon Square, a work of the architect Tomas Sanabria and that according to my criteria is one of the most interesting that I have had the opportunity to meet here in the capital, Like many others it is a very large space and more like a park, which has the advantage of having a great bath of nature, as its leafy trees provide plenty of shade, lots of freshness and an ideal environment for rest, it is also a very quiet space, where many people come to various recreational activities and everyone is on their own without interrupting the other.

Pero por ser día feriado el Panteón estaba cerrado, lo cual no fue motivo de tristeza, sino que al contrario me impulso a recorrer y conocer sus alrededores, justo de un lado de todo el complejo se ubica la denominada Plaza Panteón, una obra del arquitecto Tomas Sanabria y que según mis criterios es una de las más interesantes que he tenido la oportunidad de conocer aquí en la capital, al igual que muchas otras se trata de un espacio muy amplio y más parecido a un parque, el cual tiene la ventaja de contar con un gran baño de naturaleza, ya que sus frondosos árboles le brindan mucha sombra, mucha frescura y un ambiente ideal para el descanso, además es un espacio muy tranquilo, en donde muchas personas acuden a diversas actividades de esparcimiento y cada quien esta en lo suyo sin interrumpir al otro.

The Plaza Panteon is the highlight of an area that is characterized by patriotism, culture and study, is a place where you can breathe peace, silence and at the same time feel a great joy, it's great to see how the whole has very marked geometric shapes, which gives a spectacular visual synchrony and at the same time allows the contrast with the irregularity of nature is very evident, which surrounds us in an area where looking anywhere is simply detailing a spectacular landscape.

La Plaza Panteón es el punto culminante de una zona que se caracteriza por el patriotismo, la cultura y el estudio, es un lugar en donde se respira paz, silencio y al mismo tiempo se siente una gran alegría, es genial ver como todo el conjunto cuenta con muy marcadas formas geométricas, lo cual le da una sincronía visual espectacular y al mismo tiempo permite que el contraste con la irregularidad de la naturaleza sea muy evidente, lo cual nos envuelve en un área en donde mirar para cualquier lado es simplemente detallar un paisaje espectacular.

I was very struck by the fact that in this square there are many busts, all of them representative of various personalities of international politics, but they all have in common that they fought for their ideals and sought the best benefit for their respective peoples, that is, it is a space where ideas are very present, it is the ideal place to reflect, study or think about the future. This square, in spite of being a relatively recent construction, is a fundamental element in the whole historical complex of Caracas, since it provides personality, enhancement and charisma to a series of buildings that by themselves were gray and empty, a situation that was remedied with the warmth that the architect Sanabria gave to this work.

Me llamo mucho la atención que en esta plaza existen muchos bustos, todos ellos representativos de diversas personalidades de la política internacional, pero todos tienen en común que lucharon por sus ideales y buscaron el mejor beneficio para sus respectivos pueblos, es decir se trata de un espacio en donde las ideas están muy presentes, es el lugar ideal para reflexionar, estudiar o pensar en el futuro. Esta plaza a pesar de ser una construcción de relativamente reciente construcción es un elemento fundamental en todo el conjunto histórico de Caracas, ya que le brinda personalidad, realce y carisma a una serie de edificios que por sí solos fueran grises y vacíos, situación que se subsano con la calidez que el arquitecto Sanabria le imprimió a esta obra.

It is also important to highlight that in the northeast wing of the square are located a couple of old houses, which inside hide a couple of museums that present in their showcases a very interesting collection of Venezuelan culture. I hope to have the opportunity to visit these spaces again in the shortest time possible, since I want to visit the pantheon, the library and the museums mentioned above, as they seem to me places that at first glance look incredible and I am sure that inside there will be many secrets and curiosities to discover.

Además es importante resaltar que en el ala noreste de la plaza se ubican un par de casonas viejas, las cuales en su interior esconden un par de museos que presentan en sus vitrinas una colección bastante interesante de la cultura venezolana. Espero tener la oportunidad de volver a visitar estos espacios en el menor tiempo posible, ya que quiero conocer el panteón, la biblioteca y los museos antes mencionados, ya que me parecen lugares que a simple vista se ven increíbles y estoy seguro que en su interior habrán muchos secretos y curiosidades por descubrir.
