A win before the year ends

After being disqualified from my internship program, I needed a win to keep me steady and I got it. I qualified for a 3-week Design Bootcamp for Women Techsters that's sponsored by Microsoft.

It's a program for Intermediate to Expert-level designers and after taking 2 tests, I qualified for the program and I'm super excited. I was hoping the program would begin this year but it'll be running from the 7th till the 21st of January.

My design journey has been a lot more challenging than I imagined. I gave myself an impossible deadline of 6 months to go from Novice to pro and so far I'm still dangling at intermediate.

I've learnt a lot from so many people and from taking part in different competitions and courses. I think I've just been lucky to find myself in this position and unlucky to be here at this time.

It's not the best time for tech people at the moment but we all keep trying. I'm not only levelling up my design skills but I'm also beefing up other additional skills to help me gain an edge in this industry. It hasn't been easy.

On Saturday Google Development group is hosting a Devfest in my State so I'll be attending with the goal of meeting at least one cool tech person who might have more to show me along the way.

I'm trying to keep my head up even though my finance is draining and I have so many dreams I want to attain. I've spent way more time than I planned on learning and at many points, I've felt lost and insecure but haven seen and worked with people I'm up against in the job market, I now know I stand a chance.

I'm always super grateful for Hive because without the little I earn here, none of this would have been possible. It's unfortunate that I can't give back to the community yet but I know I will once I get the chance.
