I love the idea of this contest even though I probably won't win coz I'm not big on pictures and he specifically mentioned having lots of pictures. Also, he knows I don't take pictures that much so maybe he'll make an exception for me if I'm lucky.

What Christmas means to me

I never really understood the idea behind Christmas and the celebration of it. I mean I understand it in the religious sense of things, but in reality, it's just the celebration of the end of a year.

This is crazy coz we could literally pick any month of the year and decide to make it the end of the year. The deeper reality of things is that your day of birth is more of the beginning and end of a year for you than Christmas is.

Hence why I'm big on birthdays, especially mine. It's the real celebration of the end of one year and the beginning of another. It's one of the weird things about me.

Christmas is a global celebration of the end of a year or the period we, as humans, have selected to be the end of a year. It's a tile we think back at the last 12 months and recount what we've done and not done and when we decide what we'll be doing differently the next year to help us achieve more things. It's actually a really special time of the year and asides from the weather it's sort of still one of my favourite times of the year.

What I did before Christmas

This year I gave out a lot of gifts. I mean, I did it at random and I didn't overthink it. I believe I gave out gifts to most of my friends this year and that was the best thing about the year.

For Christmas, I think I gave gifts to just my parents and 1 friend. However, I received gifts from my sister-in-law and one of my friends.

For my parents, I spent close to $30 on drinks and spent some other amounts on random things I can't currently remember.

For my friend, I got him a smartwatch worth $34. I thought hard about getting him a gift because of how important he has been to me for the most part of this year.

He literally always gave me what I asked for. I mean sometimes I'd just meet him and say "give me money" and he'd smile and open his wallet like I charmed him or something. He also came through for me at a time when I needed someone there. We had a weird relationship but we always found a way to make things work.

My sister-in-law @wolfofnostreet got me a turtleneck sweater. It was the sweetest gift I could have received and it came in very handy when I got really sick last week. She literally saved my life and she doesn't know it. I thought for a long while about what to get her but I couldn't think of anything within my budget that would be good enough for her so I'm making better plans for her birthday (don't tell her though).

My other friend @moquero gifted me about $30 to get shoes for myself. It was so sweet of him coz I wasn't even expecting it anymore, let alone that amount. He made me happy on a very sad day for me. I always appreciate him.

Christmas day

I already wrote about how my day went here. I even made a video that has pictures of the entire day.

I was pretty high when all those videos and pictures were being taken. It was a lot of fun. Being the only tipsy person in the midst of sober people is a beautiful feeling I can't just explain.

So, that's how the Christmas season has been for me. I most probably won't win this contest but it was still fun writing my experience.

I hope to do a lot more next year. I didn't give enough for Christmas this year so I'll be making up for it with birthday presents.
