It's all about the individual.

Happy New Month everyone, I pray this new month brings you good tides, this month is gonna be better than the previous one for you in terms of achievements, happy moments, and building that amazing life you've always wanted, see you at the top.

Age doesn't define maturity or adulthood, being an adult means you can tell the difference between what's real and serious, it implies how you approach life in the real sense, I was reading a post online when I came across these " they said 18 and 19 are still teens cause it contains the words teen at the end of the spelling" hehe!!.

But then that isn't the case I've seen some minors take up responsibilities that would leave me at the edge and be like "Yo how old are you again" Another thing people in my part of the world used to define adulthood is your intellectual, they could tell by just looking at the way you do things, the kind of things you say, I still don't know how they do it though, I'm in the process of learning that.

Before now in my nation, if you weren't up to the legal age which is eighteen years, you wouldn't be granted admission into the tertiary institutions, it's either you wait till you get to the ideal age or your parents had to forge a certificate by increasing your age, I've also heard stories of people getting married at that age. I can remember growing up when I couldn't wait to get to that age so I could experience the real life of being a legal adult, once you are eighteen you are old enough to do anything you want but in my nation even when you've gotten to that age our parents don't still see us as adults they view us with these baby eyes especially when you're still leaving under their roof.

Now the definition of an adult? An adult is someone who can be able to take care of themselves, that's the major responsibility of adulthood, Some persons were forced into taking responsibility for their lives by considering the age factor while others became responsible without being forced into it. So the legal age of adulthood which is eighteen years isn't too soon or late, it's okay for me though but then it's all about the individuals. I've come in contact with a sixteen-year-old who could cook a family dinner, I know in cases like this it depends on the upbringing of the child, imagine coming from a big family where everyone had to take up certain obligations, without lacking any skill needed for living a life.

Some kids weren't taught any life skills, so I don't expect them to just turn in their lids to adult life they will find it difficult to cope when the responsibility comes in, so in this aspect, they will need support and guidance from others. Like they say age is just a number, I know when it comes to the legal aspect of it, is eighteen but not all eighteen-year-olds can take up the responsibilities of being an adult. Age doesn't make one an adult, it's all about the individual.

Thanks for reading🌹

You are very correct oo parents in this part of the world do not see their kids as adults no matter how grown they are😂. Maturity as you have rightly pointed out does necessarily have to do with age, it's about a person's ability to take responsibilities.

You are right, parent doesn't see their children as adults as long they are under their parent's roof they are still a baby in the face of their parents. Maturity is about a person's ability to take responsibility.

I wish they could see us as adults sometimes though.

That's true, maturity is not based on age but on the ability to handle responsibilities effectively

You get it right, so I thought maturity was far beyond our age.

You're absolutely right
You can never be too big in the present of your parents.

A child will always be a child before his/her parents regardless of the age.

Especially when you're still under there roof you're still under there authority and it's literally just funny

And that gets to me a lot of times, amid your friends where you're trying to be a big girl or boy they would still call you out and start scolding you😔😔😔
