Hello everyone zak40k here again with another Detachment review for Space Marines. Hopefully I can start doing these a bit faster... In fact, if I am energetic enough I am just going to do them, even if the posts are low reward... just to do them!

I have already done the following Detachments: Gladius Task Force, Anvil Siege Force, Firestorm Assault Force, Stormlance Task Force, Vanguard Spearhead, Ironstorm Spearhead, 1st Company Task Force, Blade of Ultramar, Emperor's Shield, Spearpoint Task Force, Forgefather's Seekers, Shadowmark Talon

As explained in the post The Future of Warhammer 40k Datasheet Reviews on Hive - Faction Pack orientated we are now going to be doing reviews based on the new Faction Packs.

That leaves the following: Reclamation Force, Orbital Assault Force, Librarius Conclave, Headhunter Task Force, Hammer of Avernii, Ceramite Sentinels, Bastion Task Force, Armoured Speartip.

Time to do something different! Let's do Librarius Conclave!

This post is based on Faction Pack Space Marines that have more Detachments than Codex Space Marines and it replaces everything that happened prior. There are small changes and these changes are based on what can be found online at www.warhammer-community.com.

Note that this Detachment makes use of the Space Marine Army Rule, Oath of Moment.

This Detachment is a fun one, but very themed. To make it work, you need to run 4+ Librarians!

Librarius Conclave - 1DP - Reconnaissance

Detachment Rule - Psychic Disciplines

At the start of the Battle Round, select one of the following Psychic Disciplines that is then active until the end of the Battle Round and affects all Adeptus Astartes Psyker units from your army.

• Biomancy - Add 2" to the Move Characteristic of models in the unit.
• Divination - Models in that unit Re-roll Hit rolls of 1 and Wound rolls of 1.
• Pyromancy - Ranges attacks made my models in the is at +1 AP if the target is within 12".
• Telekenisis - Each time a ranged attack targets the unit, Subtract 1 from the Strength of the attack
• Telepathy - Each time a model in the unit makes an attack, ignore modifiers to WS/BS or the Hit roll.

(Review - Unlike Doctrines, you can use these Disciplines over and over, not once per game. The trick is that it only works for the Librarian and his unit.)

Enhancements

Most Detachments have 4 Enhancements. These can only be given to Characters that qualify and never to Epic Heroes. You may only select up to three Enhancements to field at the same time. The Points indicated nect to these Enhancements are stated as they are at the time of writing this article. They may change in the latest Minutorum Field Manual.

Prescience - 25pts

Adeptus Astartes psyker model only (Excluding Terminators)
Once per turn, when an enemy unit ends a move within 9" of this model's unit, the unit may move D6". If the Divination Discipline is active, they can move 6" instead.

Celerity - 30pts

Adeptus Astartes psyker model only.

The bearer's unit can Charge in a turn that they Advanced. If the Biomancy Discipline is active, they can Fall Back and Charge.

Fusillade - 35pts

Adeptus Astartes psyker model only.

Ranged weapons in the bearer's unit have Anti-Vehicle 5+ and Anti-Monster 5+.
If the Pyromancy Discipline is active, they gain Sustained Hits 1.
If the Telekenisis Discipline is active, add 6" to their Range.

Obfuscation - 20pts

The bearer's unit cannot be targeted by the Overwatch Stratagem. If Telepathy Discipline is active, the unit cannot be the target of Ranged attacks unless they are within 18"

Stratagems

Armour of Contempt - 1 CP

When: Your opponent's Shoot or Fight phase, after an enemy has selected its targets.
Target: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army that was selected by one or more of those attacks.
Effect: Until the attacking unit has finished making its attacks, each attack they make is at -1 Armour Penetration Characteristic.

Review Note that most Space Marine Detachments have this Stratagem as one of their 6 Stratagems, it is not an error that they and the Gladius have Armour of Contempt.

Sensory Assault - 1CP

When: Command Phase
Target: One Adeptus Astartes Psyker unit from your army.
Effect: Select an enemy unit within 18" an visible to the Psyker. That unit is now pinned until the start of your next turn. While pinned, that unit is -2" Movement and -2" to charge rolls. If Telepathy is active, that unit must also take a Battleshock test at -1 to the result.

Review Instant slow-down and possible Battleshock - nice

Fiery Shield - 1CP

When: Fight Phase after an enemy has selected its targets
Target: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry or Mounted unit within 18" of a friendly Adeptus Astartes Psyker Unit, that is being targeted.
Effect: Until the end of the phase, each time an attack targets this unit, subtract 1 from the Hit roll and if the Pyromancy Discipline is active for your army, weapons in that target unit have the Hazardous ability.

Review Makes the opponent inaccurate and possibly hurt themselves? Nice!

Iron Arm - 1CP

When: Fight phase.
Target: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit within 18" of a friendly Adeptus Astartes Psyker Unit, that hs not been selected to fight this phase.
Effect: +1 Strength to melee weapons in the unit, +2 if the Biomancy Discipline is active.

Review Fair, instant damage output boost.

Assail - 1CP

When: Your Shooting Phase.
Target: One Adeptus Astartes Psyker unit that is eligible to shoot.
Effect: Select one enemy unit that is within 18" and visible to the psyker. Roll 6x D6, on each 4+ that enemy unit suffers a Mortal Wound, +1 to the result if the Telekenisis Discipline is active. (so 3+)

Review So this is an 18" Grenade strat instead of 8" and you can even make it more accurate. This is a quick 4+ wounds on anything, great for finishing something off or forcing a bracket.

Prescient Precision

When: Your Shooting Phase
Target: One Adeptus Astartes Psyker unit that has not been selected to shoot this phase.
Effect: Until the end of the phase, models in your unit have the Lethal Hits ability, if Divination Discipline is active, they get Ignores Cover as well.

Review Good way to ramp up damage.

Review

The only weakeness to this Detachment: Only 3 baseline Librarians are left: 1x Power Armor, 1x Phobos Armor, 1x Terminator Armor.

They have taken away Jump Pack Librarian and Biker Librarian. And Epistolaries..

One way to give yourself is to play a Chapter with a Character that is a Psyker. Potentials are:

Ultramarines: Tigarius
Dark Angels: Ezekiel
Blood Angels: Mephiston
Space Wolves: Njal Stormcaller

Some cool combos there and usually in 10th ed... you would not bother, but now that in 11th ed you might be able to run 2x Detachments, this is again possible.

And then for those who play Legends Datasheets: All the Biker and Jump Pack Librarian come back and for the Blood Angel: Librarian Dreadnoughts!
