HIVE GUIDE - The Blogging Habit instead of the Blogging Chore

avatar

It is time that I write another Guide for the new people that I onboard to Hive! I often get asked these questions:

  • How do you know WHAT to blog about?
  • How are you able to blog every day?
  • What are you blogging about?
  • Don't you run out of things to blog about?

And then I have to explain the philosophy of blogging about what you like doing! There are some other tips and tricks.

So let's start with the philosophy. Look at the title picture and the one below:

On the other side of the boardgame is @merenludick, busy taking pictures of what he likes: A boardgame.

He has been watching me and he often sees me taking pictures and he asks me: "Are you going to make another post dad?"

And then I need to answer: "I make a post every day Meren. But I post about different things each day. I am already (doing whatever it is I am taking pictures of), so then I will make a post to the (Appropriate Community)."

So this is the secret!

There are 7 days, I need to post about 7 different things in 7 different communities.

Do I have 7 things that I do every week? Let's see:

  • Once a week, Sundays, I do The Busy Bee Activity Group stats post. That's one.
  • I add to the Mortis Custos story once a week. Two.
  • Gardening. Three.
  • DIY. Four.
  • Cooking. Five.

These I do quite often. Then I have a variety of topics I come to once in a while:

  • Philosophy
  • Worklife
  • Photography
  • Pets
  • Hiking and travels
  • Location (touristy stuff)

You see? Plenty variety!

On top of this, I post EVERY DAY about my tabletop hobby. I am using the HBD portion of this as my hobby fund because goodness me, I cannot afford a hobby allowance on my salary and budget!

The only other trick, besides making sure you post in a different community each day, is to make sure you always use all 10 tags!

Do that and you will be able to keep posting over and over!

Simple as that. Let's not make this guide too long! Go post something!

Cheers!
@zakludick

There are many topic suggesting and I am sure all of them are great for both who just start and in here for a long journey. I really like the photography content also More. Pets is such a cool content as for especially the pets owner, I think this is the opportunity for them to show how they take care of their cats and even get some love from others people too.

Yes. Making money out of pictures of your cats is an awesome concept!

People get to ask me those questions too and I simply tell them, there are things to write about - not only about your day, you can choose to tell about another person you cross path with, what they like and how you guys came to be friends together. In fact, there are tons of what to blog about. You can never run out of ideas except you want to be lazy.

Great post! I love catching your posts, always so varied! I must admit, a few months into Hive I found myself with the same problem, what to post about, how to keep things daily and different! I’m slothly getting towards more frequent posts, it’s always nice to have some guidelines to follow! I like the 7 days, 7 communities idea!

Thank you very much!

I could say that you should not over-saturate one community with content too fast... but I have actually done quite well with fiction, DIY and Hobby posts and gotten multiple curations for each in a single week.

In the end of the day, keep posting good content about stuff you like!

Indeed, that’s the key, as long as it’s good quality content! It really helps if it’s something you like too!

The diy communities here are awesome, always something new to learn!

Ive been posting about my warhammer hobby for a while now. Been pretty rad!

I keep the HP on my Hive account but the HBD from THOSE posts only, I put into a Hobby fund for myself!

Great guide!

I confess that I can easily publish twice a day, but I use about four reference communities, I really don't get to seven, at least not every week.

I use all the tags, I think they are very important.

Thanks for the tips!🤗
