Perfection, HBD Strategy and the Half IN and Half OUT method

Let's talk money and philosophy all in one post!

We are here in this wonderful new web 3.0 community because it means that our social media, our creative outlets and worthy content gets rewarded and monetized.

In a lush and amazing future, this blockchain is attached to Community right in your home town. From bake-sales at church to rock n roll concerts! From fiction writing to music to movie making. Everything is possible!

What is also possible in the future is for EVERYONE to earn money and to do so on the exponential growth!

One of the things that I am passionate about, is the concept of financial freedom. Let me be honest with you here. I am NOT currently in a position of financial freedom. But what is important is that I have both a plan on how to get there as well as the means to do it!

Isn't that like a murder? Instead we are making money! Win win!

Motive, means and opportunity.

In a grand overview of my plan, let me make things simple:

  • My goal is to obtain financial freedom.
  • My goal is to be in a position to help others grow.

The better MY position for myself, the better is my position to help others. I do not need to wait until I am a Dolphin or a Whale to do so. I mean look at my delegations right now. I am delegating out to a plethora of accounts and helping people get established on the blockchain. I would like to support and train even more!

My goal for the year is to get 22 people on the blockchain, get them started and trained up to post and each to reach at least 50HP. That's a 1100HP stake in the community which is a larger chunk that I (currently) have.

In the meanwhile, my growth has been phenominal and almost exponential. The more I grow, the more students I can support and teach. Some of the slow growers need only 10HP delegations to get going, others need 20HP. @clairemobey needed 50HP in the beginning because she was such a busy body and now she has enough HP herself that she never manages to drain her resource credits.

Out of 22 people, 3 of them are over 50HP and I can see who will be my 4th one. As for 5th and 6th... We shall see who gets there first!

@clairemobey got there really quick with her music, food and mental health posts.
@lex-zaiya got there with a couple pets posts and mostly fiction posts. She is not even trying to market big or network too much. She has a busy job(an excuse some people would use NOT to post) but she posts on average 3 times a week with around 20-30 comments a week and she's growing steadily.
@jasperdick set a new record for getting to 50HP with 4 posts! He used his HBD to power up and he is right up there. No RC problems and now he is self-sufficient. Music, Surfing, Travel and Pets so far. He has A variety of interests and is really good at presenting them!

The next one over 50HP... will be @pixelhuntersam! Watch that space! She is talented and has already done really well. She just needs to keep going and she will get there rather fast.

But I understand the concerns of my students, some of them dip a toe in and if the water is a little cold, they shie away. Some of them do well but doubt themselves and all of a sudden posting becomes a massive mental task.

Avoid Perfection hangups!

That is the Philosophy part of this post.

Read my lips: It does not need to be perfect. Just post.

Nope, I am not saying just post rubbish. There is a big difference! Some people are just afraid of putting their content out there. Here is the truth - you need to be there to get anything.

And all you need to be is active and do what you can. Yes, sometimes you would have put more effort into a post than another and sometimes you are going to notice this if you post a lot, that the post you worked too much on does not actually reward you better.

That is because Hive is a social place. It depends on people curating you and people mean connections!

So go ahead and post, make friends and stay active! Sometimes a post wont do well, but it will never make nothing!

HBD Savings Strategy!

Posts pay out 50% in HBD and if you didn't know already, there is a 20% yearly interest on HBD placed in savings.

What this means is that 20% is divided into 12x 1.667% parts. Thus, compounding gives us a total of 21.98% per year unless you are lopping off the exact interest each month.

Someone made a statement of the fact that you can save a mere $100 per month and in 20 years, that $24,000 turns into $300,000+. So I did the math, compound interest on the returns and a constant addition of that $100 per month. Wonderful! 20 years and on the 240th month we are on $316,248!

I am South African, so this is a lot of money to me HBD being worth R15.77 at this very moment. Comparitively, this is a loaf of good quality store bread for 1 HBD. Our minimum wage is currently R23.19 per hour, thus someone working 40 hours a week would earn R927.60. Thus 58.82HBD per week equals our minimum wage. Lets make that a monthly 235.28HBD.

This puts things into perspective! To be honest, I do not know how it would be possible for someone to live off that minimum wage! Not with the prices of things. I do know, however that there is a strategy for people to earn their salary from Hive and suppliment that with their low paying jobs in order to actually survive!

There is also a savings strategy as was suggested, $100 a month.

So I did the math and I am aiming for that one! Simultaneously, I am also having my kids @merenludick and @aimeludick start by saving $5 per month this year and $10 per month this year so when Meren is 18 and Aime 20, they should be saving $100 a month. What is incredible is that they would be earning a solid passive income by that time. I will do more on those numbers later.

Let's focus on the numbers below.

There is an exponential curve to the monthly interest earned.

image.png

At $100 a month it takes about 30 months to get the the point where I earn a monthly interest of R1000.

image.png

It then takes 20 more months to get to R2000 a month in interest.

image.png

It is important to note that on the 42nd month, there is more than $100 in interest earned. You are now doubling down with your interest.

image.png

By the time you get to this point the monthly interest scales up more than R200 a month more each month! Crazy! Also by the age of 46 I will be earning over R10,000 in interest alone. This still does not replace my salary and I am sure you will need a lot more than I am currently earning to make a living, but this interest (for once) scales up faster than our inflation.

However, I am hearing the pessimistic doubt asking several questions of me, which leads me to my final point for this post.

Half in and Half out

Basically do not put all the eggs in one basket and make sure you get paid for your time!

Everyone is moaning either about FUD or FOMO.

FUD - Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt. "I should have sold that while it was still high."
FOMO - Fear of Missing Out. "I should have bought when the prices were low."

Often these are the same people!

The bottom line is that the markets go up and down. Systems change or break. You need to flow along with these changes.

What if the HBD interest goes back down to 10%? What if the value of HIVE and HBD goes up 10x and you didn't put in more while you could have?

Calm down my friends. Do not overreach and do not over commit. I like to take the middle road.

I have committed to doing $100 a month in savings. Worst case scenario - I have that amount of $HBD in savings.

Meanwhile the rest of what I earn in HBD is mine to SPEND.

There are other earning opportunities on Hive. I will explore them later.

Each day I earn POB, LEO and other tokens. Even here. One day to stake, one day to sell. That way the token maintains value to me. I am earning and I am growing.

While I save up my HBD savings I will be using the rest of my income to assist in paying for real life debts and bills.

Time will tell how we go. I think I should talk about HBD at least once a month! Watch this space!

Great post and well done to your students, some grew really good.
Must have a good teacher 😉

You are in to something, yes, everybody wants financial freedom. But only a few are really working on a plan or even have a goal.

Have a great day further!

everybody wants financial freedom. But only a few are really working on a plan or even have a goal.

Well said! we want financial freedom but don't want to put in the effort. Here's an opportunity tap into it and grow but some are failing to see the bigger picture.

Am really getting discouraged onboarding people or maybe am expecting too much from them lol

Onboarding people is hard I can imagine, as the bigger percentage of them just won’t stick around.

Try to focus on the ones that do see the bigger picture. That do get it.

I know sometimes you just don’t know up front, it’s a guessing game I think.

Yes, of course in the beginning everybody does. As it is new and exciting… 🤩🤩 but then… few keep that excitement going. Get distracted or discouraged or … who knows what.

Maybe like the dinosaurs. One day they find our footprints and think why are we just now discovering this. Why didn’t we back than, treasure that rare breed… and…

O my think my imagination is taken a run with me hahaha 🤣

Run along with your imagination lol, we imagine things around here and before you know it comes into existence, that is an ability of being able to see into the future I think, one don't have to be a psychic to see that, just look back into history and analyze what lies ahead...

I am really happy with that and that you just keep doing what you are doing!

You are a living example of how well it works just to post your writing consistently.

Consistency is extremely important for my other students to learn!

You are doing so well in helping the friends you onboard, I hope they see the opportunity here and really put in the effort, am getting tired of friends I onboard and failing to put in the effort with my HP delegated to them.

I like your HBD break down and plans.

Almost certain am not entering the figures well to calculate the 20% APR on $100 for 20 years it gives me $5.300. What am I doing wrong there, some of us are getting too old for this maths?

Ah. That's just $100 once off.

Its $100 added per month to savings. Plus compound interest.

Look at the first spreadsheet picture. look at the total grow with the $100 and the interest.

Compound interest. hmmmmmm

Olé!

At that point, you have $316k in savings and at the current exchanges ear R80,488 per month in interest.

The year is 2042 and I am 55 years old...

The numbers get bananas after that
