Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 28 - Orks, Hunta Rig

Source

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

However, on the 26th one, I have decided that it is big enough to call this series a Library!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.

So let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:

Orks - Hunta Rig

10th Edition Index Cards

Finally the Orks get a turn! One of their vehicles here, the Hunta Rig, is actually something that I am unfamiliar with as I have never faced one. This vehicle falls in line with the Ork's own "Primaris" units where this is Beast Snagga territory.

But I know people in my wargaming group play this unit so let me study it!

Statline

So... it is a vehicle, I would call it a Heavy Tank. Toughness 10, 3+ Save and 16 Wounds means that it will take quite a bit of dedicated firepower to take this beastie down!

Oh, and it moves 10" a turn without the Advance roll and it can transport 21 Beast Snagga Boyz.

It only costs 150pts!

Weapons

This thing has a lot of weapons!

Ranged:

’Eavy lobba - 48" Indirect Fire, Blast. D6 shots, S6, AP0 and Damage 2, its a good thing it only hits on 5+... for me...

Stikka kannon - 12" range, One shot, hitting on a 5+, S12 but also Anti-Vehicle 2+ and Anti-Monster 2+, AP-2 and 3 Damage a shot.

The Stikka kannon has the Snagged rule which, if it hits a Vehicle or Monster with this gun, you get +2 to your charge range if you choose this as the target of a charge.

Now for Melee:

Saw blades - 6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S10, AP-1 and 2 Damage a piece.
This is the main attack profile and you will use this S10 to do Tank Shock with.

Savage horns and hooves - An Extra Attacks profile meaning you can do them together! 4 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S8 AP-1 and Damage 3. Thes attacks have the Lance keyword. On the turn you charge with this unit, this weapon gets +1 to Wound its targets.

Butcha boyz - More Extra Attacks! 4 more attacks, hitting on 3+, S5 AP-1 and Damage 1, with Anti-Vehicle and Anti-Monster rule.

Abilities

This vehicle has Firing Deck 21 meaning the squad riding it is crawling all over it and they can all shoot at the enemy while riding it.

It also has a standard 6+ Feel no Pain.

Finally, they have the Bail Out, Boyz! rule. If this vehicle explodes and you need to test what damage the squad takes, you get to re-roll the dice. This means you are less likely to lose units from an exploding vehicle and further incentivizes that you carry troops in it.

They have to be Beast Snagga Infantry models only, which to me seems to be a bit of a drawback. I am betting there are not many Shooting orientated Beast Snagga Infantry models.

Thank you for reading!

Now we're getting to the good stuff! 150 points seems so cheap. What must a Trukk be now, like 70 points?

Indeed! The Trukk is 65pts!

Is there a website that has all the point values that I can look up? I've found the Ork datasheets online but they didn't have points attached to them.

I did find an older 10th edition points sheet, but it had the Hunta Rig at 180 points and Trukk's at 50. Also, the decision between a Hunta Rig and a Kill Rig seems like an interesting decision to make.

You can download the Warhammer app and use it to build an army for free... for now. It gives you access to one single army list on the free version.

Also, once an army has a Codex then that info is locked out.

Orks are getting one in the next 1-2months.

Otherwise visit 39k.pro!
