La Movida Fest 2022

Upon returning to my homeland I found myself with the beautiful invitation to participate in a national festival of movement, a festival known as La Movida, in the capital city of Caracas, produced by 100% San Agustin, an organization of the popular community of the San Agustin neighborhood, which in recent years has had a cultural transformation, far-reaching to the opening of tourism and destigmatization of popular areas.

Let's say that this organization proposes another more friendly and human look of the San Agustin neighborhood, helping to decompose the daily violence and the different struggles of the residents of this community, doing hard work to dispel the hostility of the territory making a reconstruction in the social fabric, 100% proposes a diversity of cultural events throughout the year, which enhance national talents, amateurs, personalities, collectives and professional companies residents of the Venezuelan capital.

The head of this movement is the choreographer and interpreter creator, Reinaldo Mijares, who one of the signatures of his work is to rescue the traditional dances to combine them with contemporary dance codes and aesthetics, with creative purposes, which revive the Venezuelan culture, the flavor and the Afro-descendant heritage, the popular movements, such as the May cross, the culoepulla, among other cultural manifestations.

The festival had several days in circulation, divided into three weekends, the first weekend was September 13 and 14, this first block was called dance in the museum, with the motive that the dancers set a tour in several rooms and spaces of the Museum of Fine Arts, Caracas, Venezuela.

We danced in room nine, a room with ample space and plenty of light, the invitation to this meeting was received from a colleague, Pedro Alcalá, with his collective of contact & improvisation, Axisproject new dance. A characteristic that I like a lot about new dance, which creates a dramaturgy weaving from listening, contact and the most organic expression of movement.

The interventions in the different spaces of the museum gave another semblance to the architecture of Bellas Artes, the actions in movement lasted between 10 and 5 minutes per intervention, accompanied by different creators & interpreters of Venezuelan dance.

Here I share with you small excerpts of our improvisation in the movement...

The second week on September 28,29 and 30 we danced behind the Alameda theater located in the community of San Agustin bringing dance and movement to spaces that enjoy these encounters that enliven the neighborhood, bringing visitors from all parts of the city to see the makers of movement.

Al volver a mi patria me encontré con la hermosa invitación de participar en un festival nacional de movimiento, un festival conocido como La movida, en la ciudad capital de Caracas, producido por 100% San Agustín, organización de la comunidad popular del barrio San Agustín, que en los últimos años a tenido una transformación cultural, de gran alcance a la apertura turística y desestigmación de la zonas populares.

Digamos que está organización propone otra mirada más amable y humana del barrio San Agustín, ayudando a descomponer la violencia cotidiana y la luchas distintas de los residentes de dicha comunidad, haciendo ardua labor para disipar la hostilidad del territorio haciendo una reconstrucción en el tejido social, 100 % propone diversidad de actos culturales a lo largo del año, que realzan talentos nacionales, aficionados, personalidades, colectivos y compañías profesionales residentes de la capital venezolana.

La cabeza que lleva está movida es él coreógrafo e interpreté creador, Reinaldo Mijares, que una de las firmas de su trabajo es rescatar las danzas tradicionales para combinarlas con códigos, y estéticas de la danza contemporáneas, con fines creativos, que reavivan la cultura en venezolana, la sabrosura y la herencia afrodescendiente, los movimientos populares, como la cruz de mayo, el culoepulla, entre otras manifestaciones culturales.

El festival tuvo varios días en circulación, divido en tres fines semana, el primer fin de semana fue el 13 y 14 de Septiembre, esté primer bloque se llamó danza en el museo, con el motivo de que los bailarines ambientaran un recorrido en varias salsas y espacios del museo de Bellas Artes, de caracas, Vzla.

Bailamos en la sala nueve, una sala con amplitud y bastante luz, la invitación a esté encuentro la recibo de un colega, Pedro Alcalá, con su colectivo de contacto & improvisación, Axisproject nueva danza. Característica que me gusta mucho de la nueva danza, que crea un tejido de dramaturgia a partir de la escucha, el contacto y la expresión más orgánica del movimiento.

Las intervenciones en los diferentes espacios del museo le daban otra semblanza a la arquitectura de Bellas Artes, las acciones en movimiento duraron entre 10 y 5 minutos por intervención, acompañados de diferentes creadores & interpretes de la danza venezolana.

La segunda semana el 28,29 y 30 de septiembre Bailamos detrás del teatro Alameda ubicado en la comunidad de San Agustín llevando danza y movimiento a espacios que disfrutan estos encuentros que avivan al barrio, traen visitantes de todas partes de la ciudad a ver los hacedores del movimiento.
