Greetings designers and crocheters, happy new week, welcome to a very beautiful and lovely week, I pray this week bring numerous goodness your way.
My needlework monday entry is two piece outfit (shirt and trouser)
This was one of my assignments and though I had a few adjustments to make after submission, I was glad to still pull this for a first trial on two piece design. I used this fabric I purchased from the market to make the two piece, and below are the few materials and things I had before starting the sewing process

MATERIALS AND TOOLS

  • 4 yards printed fabric
  • 1.5 inches elastic
  • Cotton Airstay
  • Hemming gum
  • Buttons
  • A pair of scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Marking chalk
  • Sewing machine
  • Spray bottle
  • Safety needles

PROCEDURES

  • The first step was folding my fabric using my thigh measurement, then I marked out my waist, crotch line, hip and my full trouser length.
  • I used 1.5 inches elastic for the waistband of my trousers so I added extra 2 inches allowance to my trousers length for the waistband.
  • After marking out the front of the trouser and cutting it out, I placed the front cutting to determine my back cutting. I extended the back cutting with extra 2 inches allowance since the back cutting is always larger than the front cutting cause of the hips (buttock).
  • I measured and cut the pocket and then attached it to the trouser while sewing, before the closing.
  • Then for my shirt, which was to be free and loose on me, I used my hip measurement then added extra 5 inches to fold my fabric and take my measurements from the shoulder to my shirt length.
  • For my collar attachment, I measured the neck round to know the exact inches I was going to cut for the base of my collar and after determining that, I went ahead to cut the upper part of the collar, I airstayed the collar and then fixed it to the body of the shirt.
  • I later cut the sleeves, hemmed the bottom using hemming gum before attaching it to the body of the shirt
  • After attaching, sewing and fitting every single piece of the fabric I cut, I took it for button hole opening and fixing of buttons.
