What is Web Browser?
A Web Browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting and passing out information resources on the World Wide Web. Information resource is identified by a Uniform Resources Identifier (URI) and may be a web page image, video, or other piece of content.

It is a software application to access information provided by servers. It brings information resources to the user. Retrieve, present, and traverse information resources on the World Wide Web.

Examples of Browsers:
• Google chrome
• Mozilla Firefox
• Opera
• Microsoft Internet Explorer
• Apple Safari

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a TEXT object sent by web server to a browser or on your hard drive.
 It is intended for the server to maintain resource information on top of the basic http protocol
 It can be used for a reminder log and passwords e.g. yahoo mail
 Keep track of items in online shopping cart
 Maintain a user profile e.g. interested news categories

Features of Web Browser

1. All major web browsers allow the user to open multiple information resources at the same time
2. A refresh and stop buttons for refreshing and stopping the loading current documents
3. Home button that gets you to your home page
4. Major browsers also include pop-up blockers to prevent unwanted windows from ‘popping up’ without the user’s consent
