Was It A Lie?

avatar

Was it a lie? When they told us that the future will be bright and fair? That better days are ahead, that good things come to those who wait and are persistent. And they never give up?
Was it all a lie? Or perhaps fiction and assumptions?
Were we not told that if we do our very best and keep striving that the sky would be our only limit? And as we grew older, they said the sky will be our starting point? Why all the flat lies and beliefs? Why did they make us believe all of these?

Why did they all raise our hopes and make us believe something good could come out of here? What is the point of all these struggles when our existence is merely by chance and grace? What do we keep pushing so hard and living for?
When they say live your life every day as if it were your last cause you really cannot tell what the future has for you or anyone.
When they say we should be kind to people and a little kinder to ourselves cause the whole struggle would be for nothing if, in the end, we wouldn't live to see the next sunrise.

Was it all a lie? A lie we realized only after we got there? A lie we couldn't comprehend when nothing seemed to have worked out as they said.
A lie we will still tell our children or the coming generation if care is not taken.
Limiting the lies we tell the younger ones and letting them discover life on their own is the best if you ask me.
Quitting all the untested motivations and allowing them to build a life they want for themselves is far better than flat motivations that haven't been proven true.
Let's give people a growing space and allow them to decide for themselves and their lives and stop putting out lies for them to hope on and hold onto only to get disappointed in the end.

They told us that Education was the only key to success
They made us belief that after the tertiary education that good Jobs in big companies awaits us
And that we will become multi millionaires
They all lied
Now people that can't even read are employing the so called graduates and giving them a means of livelihood
What a big slap to all the time, efforts, money and resources spent so far
They did
Buh thanks to God even the generation yet unborn can already see the truth

Such a huge slap and blow but what can most of us do? Other than to take the blows for a better generation upcoming.

I hope we learn better and limit all the lies.

Whispers from a stolen childhood among other things. In any case, we lived past the rude shock awaiting anyone who falls for the same. I just pray that we will unlearn everything they forced down our throats without losing ourselves.

May we heal.

I pray we unlearn and I like the term you used here. The things they forced down our throats

There's something to be said for encouraging kids to go for what they are interested in. But at the same time, promises shouldn't be made. Nobody can guarantee that trying will result in a career as an astronaut, leader of the country, etc.

Yes, some form of encouragement is necessary but not flat motivations and promises.
Thanks for the support!
