A Little Bit of Him, A Lot of Me | LOH #302

People who knows me and my family personally they often say I am mostly like my dad. Well, my first thought is that I am not really like anyone that's what I truly feel like, because I'm a different individual. I have my own personality and way of talking or thinking. Sometimes, my mentality is thought provoking and people often do not understand me. I do not like to follow what someone else is doing, I will just create my own path. But if I had to choose then I would say I am more like my father but not 100%. To be honest, when people tell me that I am like my dad then I would already know the reasons.

Most of the knowledge and ethics I have is because I have learned it from my dad. He has taught me things one by one not all at once. Since, I was growing older he taught me how to be independent, he did not only teach me through words but also with actions. My father is kind, but he is not the same with everyone. Like it varies from person to person and the situation. One thing I appreciate the most about him was that he never raised his voice at me. Like if I do something wrong, he would tell me something quietly and try to make me understand so yeah, he is very much patient with me. On the other hand, he is very strict with my brother I don't know why lol. Also, my mom is is strict with me but softer with my brother, I find it really funny. I think they both have planned it secretly to take turns.

However, I think I am like my dad because I am strong like him. I am not talking about physical strength here, I'm talking about mental strength. I am always straight forward with my words just like my dad. I never liked saying things indirectly because I don't like any sort of drama. Also, I already know where I am going instead of just following others. My dad is the same he has everything planned, but he stays quiet and does his thing. I think I have learned that mindset from him.

But I have been gaining knowledge from my surroundings and explored myself on my own. Like I don't want to show like I'm doing something different it's just that sometimes my thought process does not match with others. Because the way I think is different, I like to do observations before making any statements. Moreover, I have learned many things by my own. So, I do have qualities that made people think that I am just like my dad, it's not a bad thing. Instead, I feel proud about it. But I would still say that I am just like me. Maybe I am a little bit of him but I am also my own person, hehe.

I wonder what people of the Hive think what am I like? Leave your thoughts in the comment section. I would love to read about your opinion.

It is common for women to resemble their parents; however, I think it is wonderful that you are able to discern things and forge your own path with such confidence.

I think it has nothing to do with gender. I think it could be anyone as it's not in our control, hehe.

It's interesting how we pull parts of our parents based on the relationship we had with them from babyhood to adulthood. I'm going to guess perhaps you might have been closer to your father than your mother. Also, you said that your mom was more strict with you than your brother. Perhaps that's why you relate more to your dad.

Thank you for sharing. Take care and have a lovely day! !LADY

Thank you! ❤️ I think you’re right, I was definitely closer to my dad. It’s interesting how our childhood relationships with our parents can shape us in ways we don’t notice until we grow older. Have a lovely day too! 😊

I think young people don't want to relate to their parents. They want to think they are their own person, and that is important. But when you are not young anymore, is when most of your parents trade will become more evident. Your parents are full grown adults while you might be a young adult with not much experience on real life, so most of the decisions that you made, the way you treat people and the way you work yourself through life, have not been as evident. School sometimes simulate those environments but many more times, the rules are way different than in the real world, so judging your decisions become less evident and you tend to rely on what you know, and what you know, for the most part is your parents. Specially because is the only example of seen adults facing everyday life from the privacy of the home.

Also fathers as men, know what to do with boys, while mothers do with daughters. That's their main responsibility, is very hard for children from one parent household to be taught by a woman, and sometimes making broken adults. This is a very common issue and one that have been addressed online by many sociologists.

Yeah, I can see your point. We may want to be our own person but our parents still shape us in so many ways without us even noticing. Really interesting perspective!

More than that, is that you face the world and world issues for the first time, and have no other reference point. So sort issues out you either have friends or other adults. Sometimes the only adult is your parents.

That’s a really good point. I think that lack of a reference point is a huge part of it, we learn how to understand the world through the people around us, specially our parents when we’re young. Even when we eventually develop our own perspectives, some of those early influences stay with us in ways we don’t always recognize.

I know for sure that most baby girls look and behave like their fathers and sons like their mothers. It's always vise versa.

I'd tend to think that we are a product of or blend from both of our parent's traits and character, perhaps one or two from another role model we adopted whether we realize it or not.

My mother was tough with discipline, very goal driven, enjoyed her career, her role as the primary breadwinner and I have her temperament. On the other hand, I adored my father spending more time with me, his patience, humor, wisdom and was home more often than my Mother. He was a marvelous Sous chef, he's terrible at sewing and couldn't teach me sewing if his life depended on it but he taught me the art of cooking.

I love how you put this! ❤️ We really do pick up little pieces of both our parents. And the cooking part made me laugh 😂

Yeah, I agree with you 😊 I think we all have a little bit of our parents in us but at the same time our own experiences and the people we meet also change us a lot. Sometimes we don't even realize how much someone has influenced us until we look back. Thanks for sharing this and hope you had a lovely weekend too! 🤗
