Your Health Is Not a Trend

In 2026 being famous on the internet is a big thing and everyone these days looks like an expert. As we know influencers always have millions of followers and most of them speak with so confidence that people may believe that they know everything about a certain topic. Like they do not need to prove themselves, people would blindly follow them or believe them because they have seen their good sides only. We only know what they show right?

So, is it right to follow them without questioning? What if they are giving wrong informations? Well, if we question our favourite influencers it doesn't mean we will be speaking against them. It means we are trying to verify because our health comes first before anything else. But to be honest, I don't think an influencer is a qualified person to give professional advices. Specifically if it's about medical health, we shouldn't trust anyone blindly.

If I need medical advices, then I would go to a physical doctor and if that's not possible, I will try to contact them online. But I would not blindly trust an influencer just because they are popular. Before trusting them I would search about their educational experiences and qualifications. I will check their background details to see if they are actually a medical professional. My dad always says that we should always listen to a qualified doctor only, not someone who simply has a large number of followers.

To be honest, I don't think there is anything wrong with professionals becoming influencers. Because I think it's their personal choice, In fact, these experts can use social media to educate more people, in my web2 news feed I used to see some videos of doctors. Still now they regularly share about diseases and symptoms which their patients come up with. I think it can help people to recognize the symptoms faster and they would know when to reach a doctor. So, yeah that can be very helpful. I personally like watching these videos and it's very educative.

The problem is that many teenagers may not try to investigate whether something is wrong or not. When someone speaks confidently and looks professional these teenagers would believe it. I won't lie, I used to believe too. But then my dad enlightened me, that's why I don't follow these anymore without any inquiries. But teenagers would listen to anyone who has thousands or millions of followers, just like I did. Also, some are so die hard fan that they would do anything their favorite influencer tells them to. Also, many of them even trust ai without checking the information themselves. So, if people can do that with AI, they can certainly do it with influencers too.

Moreover, I really don't like it when people gives free advices out of nowhere. I have seen people online recommending things to eat or apply to the skin as if the same thing will work for everyone. But it's a basic knowledge that everyone's body type and skin are different. Like if something is working for me it may not work for someone else and can cause them irritation or an allergy. Which I think is not the right thing, no one in their right mind should do it. We should never eat something or put something on our body just because someone who is very popular told us to do it.

I'm not saying influencers are bad. I know sometimes they would give some useful information and encourage people to learn. But we should educate ourselves about the difference between sharing personal experience and giving professional advice.

In conclusion, we need to create more awareness, specially for the teenagers. One thing, I want everyone to understand clearly that is, trusting health advices from online is not a wise thing. So, what should we do? Well, we should always consult with a doctor before applying or consuming anything. And when it comes to our health, we should be extra careful because it's more important than following the crowd.

Fantastic job on today's Ecency leaderboard quest, @zoe01! True expertise is often overshadowed by the hollow confidence of modern internet influencers.

Tipped with Ecency POINTS.

Not at all information should be received without ascertaining how authentic they are. When dealing with health matters, it is quite important to take necessary precautions before taking anything.

I totally agree with you... its okay if professionals become influencer... the internet is so vast.. People are always online, so if the best way for professionals to reach their audience if by becoming influencer, then thats fine...

I agree with you. It's crazy when people blindly follow or do what their favorite influencers say. Critical thinking is a must in this information age. We need to challenge things we read or hear, and not readily accept them just because someone famous suggests or recommends them.

Yep, I think at young age we always make mistakes but these things could be something serious so awareness is pretty much needed.

It's hard since even I was decently gullible as a younger teenager. Parents can help with some of it by encouraging their kids to question everything.
