Don't Waste Your Energy Arguing – A Lesson from the Bee and the Fly.

Hello everyone on Hive! Today,I came across this funny but deep picture online and I just had to share it with you all.Let me paint it for you; There's a bee holding a small pot, pouring golden honey right next to a pile of poop (yes, you read that right, animal droppings).Standing on the poop is a fly, looking at the honey and saying "Nah!" like it's not interested at all.Below the image, there's this wise saying; Before you get into an argument, remember this quote: "A bee does not waste its energy trying to convince a fly that honey is better than shit."

Now,let's break this down in simple terms. The bee is all about honey,it's sweet, nutritious and something valuable that bees work hard to make. The fly,on the other hand,loves(poop/dirt)because that's what flies are drawn to; it's their thing. No matter how much the bee tries to show off the honey, the fly won't care. It's like trying to force someone to like what you like when their mind is set on something totally different.
This quote hits home for me,especially in our busy world today.Think about it,how many times have you gotten into a heated argument on social media, at work,or even with family?Maybe you're trying to explain why saving money is better than spending it all on flashy things, but the other person just loves living large and doesn't see your point.Or perhaps you're debating politics and the other side is stuck on their views like glue. It's exhausting, right?Just like the bee, you're using up your precious energy on something that won't change.

In Nigeria, where I live in Warri, to be precise, this happens a lot.We argue about everything, from fuel prices to football teams like Chelsea vs. Arsenal. People shout on the streets or online, but often, nobody changes their mind. The bee-fly story reminds us that not every disagreement needs your full attention. Some people are like flies, they're happy with their "poop" (their own ideas or habits) and no amount of your "honey" (your better advice or facts) will sway them.
But wait, does this mean we should never argue? Not at all! Arguments can be good if both sides are open to learning. For example,if you're discussing how to improve your community or business on Hive and everyone is listening, that's like two bees sharing honey recipes. It's productive. The key is to pick your battles wisely.Ask yourself; Is this person willing to listen? Will this argument help me or just drain me? If it's a "fly" situation, smile, nod and move on.Save your energy for things that matter, like building your Hive blog, creating content,or spending time with loved ones.

I love how this simple image uses animals to teach a big life lesson.Bees are hardworking and focused, they buzz around flowers, make honey and build hives(pun intended for our platform!).
Flies? They buzz around mess and don't add much value. So,be the bee, focus on creating sweetness in your life instead of convincing others.
In the end, life's too short to waste on pointless debates.Remember the bee and the fly next time you're about to jump into an argument.Choose peace, protect your energy and keep buzzing towards your goals. What do you think, Hive fam? Have you ever been in a "bee vs. fly" situation? Drop your stories in the comments below, let's discuss (but nicely, haha)! Thank you for reading, and keep thriving on Hive.Stay blessed! 🐝
