Año Nuevo en Familia || New Year with Family

      Hola amigos, nuevamente Zuni por acá deseándoles un feliz año nuevo para todos. Para mí un fin de semana extralargo y como no pude ir a ningún lado, estoy disfrutando en casa el del tiempo libre. Hoy quiero contarles cómo fue mi celebración de fin de año con mi familia.

! [English] Hi everyone, Zuni here again, wishing you all a happy new year. It was a really long weekend for me, and since I couldn't go anywhere, I'm enjoying some free time at home. Today I want to tell you about my New Year's Eve celebration with my family.

      Ponernos lindos, arreglarnos para estas fiestas, ya es un clásico en mi familia. Me encanta tener recuerdos en mi celular y también lo tengo en físico, de diferentes fiestas de fin de años, donde veo cómo avanzamos en familia y sobre todo, el crecimiento de los chicos. Este último año dieron un estirón impresionante. Ambos niños varones nos pasaron en altura tanto a mí como al padre. Mi hija mayor es la más chiquita e inclusive menos que yo. Físicamente y también personalmente, creo que todos hemos crecido.

! [English] Dressing up for the holidays is a tradition in my family. I love having memories on my phone, and I also have physical copies, of different end-of-year celebrations, where I can see how we've grown as a family and, above all, how much the kids have grown. This past year they've had an amazing growth spurt. Both my sons are taller than me and their father. My oldest daughter is the youngest, even shorter than me. Physically and personally, I think we've all grown.

      En Argentina, mientras escribo esto hace un poco de frío, pero en las fiestas, tanto en Navidad como fin de año, el calor fue insoportable. Todos los hombres de Bermudas y predominantemente blanco. En mi caso un vestido que me regalaron y que verdaderamente amo. En la fiesta de fin de año, mi hija no estuvo presente debido a reuniones con sus amigos en otro lugar.

! [English] In Argentina, as I write this, it's a bit chilly, but during the holidays, both Christmas and New Year's, the heat was unbearable. All the men wore Bermuda shorts and were predominantly white. I wore a dress that was given to me as a gift and that I truly love. My daughter wasn't at the New Year's Eve party because she was meeting up with friends elsewhere.

      Arrancamos la noche comiendo bien temprano como me gusta a mí, para luego disfrutar de la mesa dulce y no atragantarnos. Mientras estábamos charlando y disfrutando de lo que cociné, la energía eléctrica dijo hasta acá llegué 😂. Hoy lo cuento con humor, pero en el momento uno se pone nervioso, debido a que en una fecha tan importante, no puede faltar este recurso tan indispensable para todos. La incertidumbre duró tan solo 20 minutos aproximadamente y luego volvió la electricidad. He escuchado historias de otros lugares, que estuvieron mucho más tiempo sin energía eléctrica. Es por eso que agradezco y me siento afortunada de vivir en Ezeiza.

! [English] We started the evening with an early lunch, just the way I like it, so we could enjoy the dessert table without overindulging. While we were chatting and enjoying what I'd cooked, the power went out 😂. I can laugh about it now, but at the time it was nerve-wracking, because on such an important day, this essential resource is crucial for everyone. The uncertainty only lasted about 20 minutes, and then the power came back on. I've heard stories from other places that were without electricity for much longer. That's why I'm so grateful and feel lucky to live in Ezeiza.

      Nos encanta el asado, pero no tanto hacerlo. Es por eso que bien temprano prendí el horno de la casa para cocinar las carnes que tenía macerada y luego por la tarde me tocó simplemente hacer las ensaladas. Todo liviano y muy rico sinceramente. Acompañamos la cena con un vino para los mayores y agua para todos. Luego en la mesa dulce, que no sé por qué no capturamos imágenes, los chicos tomaron gaseosa y nosotros bebidas blancas espumantes. No en abundancia, porque aprendimos que sin estar ebrios, también podemos pasarlo bonito y alegres.

! [English] We love barbecues, but not so much the grilling. That's why I turned on the oven early to cook the marinated meats, and then in the afternoon I just made the salads. Everything was light and, honestly, delicious. We had wine with dinner for the adults and water for everyone. Later, at the dessert table—I don't know why we didn't take pictures—the kids drank soda and we had sparkling wine. Not too much, because we learned that we can have a good time and be happy without being drunk.

      Las lentejas son simbólicas y representa el deseo de abundancia en todos los aspectos para la familia. Y las velas que trajo mi madre, según ella, representa a esas personas que ya no están físicamente con nosotros, pero que igualmente queremos recordarla en este momento. Creencias culturales que me gusta mantenerlo vigente y más allá de que uno crea o no, Lo importante es respetarnos.
Una reunión familiar muy íntima y tranquila este año. No bailamos, pero sí charlamos y nos divertimos mucho.
Deseo que todos hayan pasado unas lindas fiestas de fin de años.

! [English] The lentils are symbolic and represent the desire for abundance in all aspects for the family. And the candles my mother brought, according to her, represent those people who are no longer physically with us, but whom we still want to remember at this time. Cultural beliefs that I like to keep alive, and regardless of whether one believes in them or not, the important thing is to respect each other.
A very intimate and quiet family gathering this year. We didn't dance, but we did chat and have a lot of fun.
