Acts of kindness at the Morher of Mercy Babies Home in Navrongo, Ghana 🇬🇭

PS: I AM THE ONE AND ONLY, IN THE BLACK HIVE T-SHIRT

Hello everyone! I want to share with you how a simple coincidence made my birthday this year a memorable one.

Well everything did not really get to happen on the same day but it still counts.

The coincidence

My friend(@depressedfuckup) got a kind of sponsorship/support to make a donation as an act of kindness. Donating to an orphanage is what I would also think about as they need it the most. We chose an orphanage close to our school. Well we thought it was close but it actually was not. The thing is, none of us have been there before, it’s our friends who went there to make a donation some time ago so when we also got this opportunity we just asked them about where they went and did the donation the last time. All we knew was the place was in the same town as our school. As I’m writing this I’m forcing myself to agree that the place is really in the same town as our school. It is really not. The place is very far from our school.
Oh I almost got lost there.

The coincidence is that my friend got this sponsorship around the same time we had an event on our campus which was also around the date of my birthday. My birthday is on 14th February and the event was scheduled to take place on 11th February. I don’t know exactly when he got the sponsorship but everything just came together perfectly. My friend completed school just last year so it was also a nice opportunity to come visit us.
More coincidence, my friend hadn’t signed all his clearance when he completed school so he was already thinking and planning to come to school to complete the clearance. What better time to do this?!!

My birthday

I’m one of those people who have their birthdays no different from any normal day. In fact, on my birthday this year I was in a very bad mood. I can’t really tell what exactly was wrong but I was just feeling moody. I have that personality of getting moody once in a while. Worst how this one fell on my birthday.
I had two classes but I decided not to attend any of them. I just locked myself in my room. If not because my friend came for us to go to the supermarket to buy the things for the donation, I’m sure I would not have come out of my room the whole day. I mean what would bring me out? I just felt like being alone and in my head.

Picture of me hugging myself in the supermarket, taken by my friend

I hugged myself like this the whole time we walked from my hostel to the supermarket, which is about 20 minutes walk. I was just feeling down. I couldn’t even stand and face the camera to take the picture. Thanks to my friend who still insisted I take a picture. I wouldn’t be able to show you this.
We didn’t buy anything on that day because we had planned to go with our friends who are here on hive with us but most of us had classes so we decided to make the trip the next day. Most of us had fewer classes the next day so it was reasonable enough. Myself and two others are in the same class and we had only one class from 9-11AM. The others had their classes after 1PM so we chose 11AM 15th February (next day from my birthday) to make the trip.

We only went through the things we wanted to buy from the supermarket and checked the prizes and made a list of everything and tallied them with our budget.

After my class ended at 11AM on 15th we gathered at the supermarket and now went inside and bought everything we had taken notice of. Of course everybody didn’t gather there at once. But myself and @gunu1 got there as soon as the end of our class at 11AM. Even though we were supposed to be in seminar, we left the seminar when it was only just getting started. A few guests had just introduced themselves and there were a few more to go before the seminar would start but we left before the guests even finished introducing themselves. It was a seminar to welcome freshmen into our faculty so the guest speakers were the deans, vice deans, heads of departments, and senior and assistant lecturers of the faculty. We were really supposed to be there as we are executives at our department. @gunu1 is the president of our department and I’m the judicial board chairman of the department (computer science society).
We had to leave the seminar to keep our word with our friend as we all planned to be at the supermarket at 11AM. We were even able to spare a few minutes in the seminar because our class ended before 11AM.
We got to the supermarket to meet only our friend there at around 11:15. We met him while he had already picked up everything and was now at the counter about to pay. There weren’t much to do again so we excused ourselves to go to a koko joint to take our breakfast while the rest of our friends came. We were supposed to be 10 in total but at the moment it was only the 3 of us there. We called them and told them we were at the supermarket already then the two of us went and had our breakfast. Yes breakfast at 11AM. Welcome to our world. We even need this donation ourselves. ;)

We had our koko(porridge made from corn) and made our way back to the supermarket to meet the rest of our friends all gathered then we took some pictures and set off on the trip.

All 10 of us, none of us had any idea how far the place is. And as I mentioned earlier, the place was farther than any of us had imagined. It took us full hour to get there.

This was a clue for us to get an idea of how far the place was but none of us thought anything about it. A few minutes into the journey our drivers stopped at a fuel station and topped up their fuels (in both vehicles).
Of course we used that as an opportunity to get down and stretch our legs and take pictures.

The scenery on our way to the place. Taken by one of us(I think @yahuzah lol)

After an hour of unending road we finally got there.

We first of all asked for the person in charge of the place and they said she just left but they can call her. So we waited and they called her. She came in a couple of minutes and welcomed us and showed us into her office where we stated our mission. She also told us a little bit about the place and their mission of providing a home for young orphans.
It was very humbling. It is just by chance that we are all where we are, I thought to myself. It is just luck! Their situation is not a consequence of their actions or any sort of thing like that. It is just their luck! Any of us could have ended up like them.
May they be protected and granted sustenance and good health.

After that we came outside and they brought a number of the kids out and we handed over our donations. They brought only about 4 or 5 kids. They said most of them were sleeping.
We played with them and took pictures and said our goodbyes. And hoping to pay them another visit very soon.

Haha I think we all will agree that the place really isn’t in Navrongo. On the contrary, it’s actually quite far. But I’m glad we still made the trip, and I’m sure the kids at mothers of mercy babies home appreciated it even more.

Lol I think you missed that you can only set 8 beneficiaries to a post. That was why I had to leave out @nhaji01 in my post’s beneficiary to manually send her own 5% after the post pays out.

As for the place being in Navrongo we’ll have to ask the chiefs to confirm that.

Yes I actually set it with the Ecency web while I was editing the post and it didn’t give me any rejection feedback so I went ahead and finished editing.
I now finished everything and came to press post and then now got the prompt that I can only set as much as 8 beneficiaries. So I just removed one person(you 😂) and pressed post.
I totally forgot to edit the part of the post where I said I set beneficiaries to 9 people.

I guess it’s understandable that it’s said to be in Sirigu. But even then, I thought Sirigu was just beside the road on your way to Bolga from Navrongo.

I totally forgot to edit the part of the post where I said I set beneficiaries to 9 people.

Lol I relate. The same thing almost happened to me in my post😂. Ecency just didn’t allow me post cos of the excess beneficiaries. I should’ve kicked you out in my post’s beneficiaries. My mistake😂😂😂

Another good deed that will benefit the community. I see a couple of familiar faces on the photos. Anyway, congratulations!

For future reference, you may want to check out Loving HIVE community. It would be great to make the community grow.

OCD community is for topics that don't fit in any other community and should be used when you don't find a niche community for your post.

Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work and why you should use them -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide. I also put together a list of communities, which is not complete, there are much more communities on Hive, but it will help you get started.

Once you posted your post in the right community, you can then cross post it to OCD community. Here's a guide about cross posting.

Please don't delete any post with the purpose of reposting it in another community as that can be considered abuse. Leave this post here, you'll get it right next time.

Thank you.
I did look through my communities but did not find exactly where to put this post.
The Loving Hive community skipped me.

I will go through the guide and make sure to get it right next time.
