Look what I found today!

117.jpg

"So what's up Doc" he said as he peeped at me from my finger. "Oh my" he said, "but you are an ugly chameleon and you don't look like my father".

I held this tiny old-world animal that originated 65 million years ago and he is a dwarf chameleon, come and meet him.

As far as paleontologists can tell, the first chameleons evolved shortly after the extinction of dinosaurs 65 million years ago. However, there is some indirect evidence that chameleons were extant 100 million years ago, during the middle Cretaceous period, perhaps originating in Africa.
Source

"Would you mind if I investigate this funny branch to see if there is something to eat" he asked.
118.jpg

"Nope" he said, "maybe I must find a better spot to look for a fly"
123.jpg

"Nothing here" he said and you can see by his expression that he was disheartened, "so if you don't mind, please take me home"
139.jpg

So I put him back into the tree where he belongs.
145.jpg

I checked on him later and he was a happy chappy, as here you can see that he was sound asleep.
099.jpg

A Happy Friday to everyone and in fact the gardener called me to fetch the little guy as he saw him in a rose bush in one of the gardens. The fear is always that either a cat will get him, or a human will take and sell him, as dwarf chameleons sell at a very expensive price.

Of course the gardener wouldn't touch him, as he thinks that they are bad luck to touch and he might lose his girlfriend, or his money 😜
But yes, as some of you know, I have a special tree where I keep them safely in the wild.

And That's All Friends.

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you have enjoyed the talking chameleon and the pictures.

Thank you kindly for supporting a post by @papilloncharity

My daughter always wanted to have a Chameleon or a Gecko. This is a cute little guy and she would certainly love it, but she knows that wild animals belong into the wild :)

Great that she will rather leave them in the wild my friend.
I have told you before that you raised your kids well.

Here's a Gecko's stomach for here to have a look.

Note how blue his toes go from the suction on the glass.

Cheers and thanks!

Although I know how it works, it's still always amazing how they can walk on flat surfaces - cool photo Zac :)

Oh yes, they are really amazing little critters.
I think that I told you about the Gecko that fell off the roof into the guy's plate of food?

Maybe your daughter will also like the monkey that I posted today and you will like the video of the Peregrine falcon that can dive at more than 300 kph. (The fastest bird in the world)
Note that you don't have to vote on the posts, as you already auto voted.

I just want you to see it.

Cheers and thanks.

Oh yes, you have told me about the fallen Gecko :)

The Autvoter stops at 83% power, so I have a look at most posts anyway, especially I look at yours and some others, and I do many votes manually too. It's just much easier for me because most times I am on my phone now and I turn the computer only on to edit photos or to make a post.
But I think when I have more time (soon) I will stop the Autovoter anyway.

I went to bed earlier yesterday because this is going to be another busy week, but I'll have a look at your latest posts anyway, as said above :)

Wish you a great day and a wonderful week, my friend 🌞

We have #combination on full autovoting and I forget what the #papilloncharity autovoting is set on, as a friend helped me to do it.
Hectic also here this week Hannes, but like I said before, both you and I can handle it.
I am currently evading an urgent call for a meeting, as it will just mean more work and extra expenses.
We are already for a long time running on the border line of Papillon's expense account and I have to control it with an iron fist.

I also wish you all strength for this new week my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

I think with the next hardfork autovoting might be history, but I haven't read much about it yet.

I hope you can sort it out and the expenses will not get too high.

Well that is not very good news Hannes, as when they remove the auto-voting, the losses will be great.
To make up for it, a person (in my case) would have to upvote 100 posts every day with tiny amounts to preserve the voting power.

The hope that newbies have of earning something by auto voting will also be gone.

Yes and thankfully I have a lot of experience working with almost nothing and we will not take on anything that we cannot afford.

The problem is that we cannot afford the salary of a fund raiser, as they are not allowed to work on commision and a that salary will seriously cut into the funding for the projects.
So, I am the only fundraiser that Papillon have.

Cheers and thanks.

We will see what will be. There will certainly be enough information before the fork.

I think you are doing a good job, but I don't know all, of course, and I certainly have no idea about fund raising and such. Anyway, I wish you the best for that.

Yeah, let's hope that they have though about a way that we can replace the lost income when the auto votes fall away. If we want to keep our voting power strong, then we can only set it not to go below max 85% and so we will only be able to vote on a limited amount of posts per day.

Unless we start giving people 1 and 2 cent votes, which is not going to help anyone.
In fact I don't like giving votes at less than 50%, but at times I have to go lower when my voting power is down.

On another note, it is now Papillon's 20 year celebration and how we have lasted so long is only by God's grace. So, yes I have somehow managed to keep the flag flying, but the worry is if I am no longer around and to cover that we have to build the Endowment fund.
That's why I am on Hive and if Hive blooms sometime in the next 5 years, then we will be allright.
As then I can pull a percentage directly into the fund.

Time will tell my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

I don't think the autovoting will fall away, but it might not be interesting anymore for the ones who let the autovoter vote 5 minutes after the post was published.

There are so many great photos and articles each day, I want to upvote them all 😊

Yes, if the Hive rises the daily income would be enough to have it running without the need to do anything if you're not around. I hope that it will be like that one soon day ... for you and for me 😁

Oh yes, I have had confirmation that auto-voting won't fall away and you are correct, as they are going to target those that are bleeding the system with early votes.

Yeah and so do I, but the voting power remains a problem. At 50% voting I am very limited.

Well now here is the interesting thing. We were asked to attend a new meeting this morning at 11 am with a group of people. No details were given for the reason of the meeting.
Turned out that I was in charge of the meeting, totally unprepared and thankfully Marian was with me.
We are to train up 5 teachers that attended the meeting, the 5 to train the other teachers in trauma counselling.
What a nice challenge.

Yes indeed, a boom in Hive will certainly take care of my absence in the future. AND it would give you a brand new van. Maybe even a fully equipped van that you only have to alter a bit to personalise it.
A great dream methinks 😀

Cheers and thanks.

We will see what the hardfork will bring, certainly some changes, but hopefully good ones.

So you have a new interesting and good project - wish you much luck with it, my friend 😊 ... you're lucky to have your lady Marian 😁

We have just calculated how much our daughters study will cost - it's a private college and it's too far away in Lower Austria to live at home, so she has to have an apartment there and my van will have to wait, but the future of our kids is more important than a car anyway.
The Hive might be able to help though 😉

I have reblogged a post by Taraz about the Hardfork on my blog. Very interesting reading if you want to take a look.

Oh yeah, we have done a lot together and right now she is busy setting up the first new class for the students, which I don't like to do. Establishing the day and the times, the educational materials, the lecturer, the eats and beverages and and and. Not for me thank you.

Wow! Maybe close to half a million that you will havec to spend there my friend. Maybe even more, but you are right, as it is an investment in her future and not a loss.

The van will come when its the right time for it to come and maybe you must make a plan B in case Hive does not bloom.

Cheers and thanks.

I will have a look at the post tomorrow when I am at work 🙂

Sounds like a lot of work - have much fun 😉 I know you will do a good job 👍

Half a million in your currency maybe, but luckily not in ours 😃

The Hive will make it all good 😊

The main thing is to deliver value to the students my friend and to give them the correct tools that they need to work in the communities. My idea to get them to train other leaders in the communities sprouted from an old project that we did before up north, that is still working today.

Well, it is not going to be cheap in any currency methinks.

Oh yes, we hope in the Hive my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

I could never be a teacher - I'm much too impatient and could never transfer my knowledge easily to others.

True, but if it would cost half a million Euros I would send her to Turkey to knot carpets ;)

Hive will survive and grow, that's all I hope.

There are times that I enjoy teaching, but as soon as it becomes repetitive, it starts to bore me as I like new things.

Hahaha, my step daugter completed university on her own for 7 years. She worked part time as a waitress and the only time that I had to pay was at her registraion. She also bought her own scooter and wouldn't even give me a chance to ride it, as she said that it couldn't do a wheely.
Thinking that I am dumb enought to try and ride a scooter on it's back wheel, like she saw me doing on my bike 🤣

Hive is a chance that we take and as they say, you cannot take the bus if you haven't got a ticket.
Let's hope that Hive is that bus, as you and I have the tickets.

Cheers and thanks.

My daughter wants to work too, and I hope she will find a nice job that gives her enough time to study.

Wheelie on a Scooter? I have seen such on YouTube but I would never try it myself, looks somehow cool though 😉

Yep, let's hope we have the ticket for the right bus 😁

Yes and a part time job will help her a lot, as at the same time she can get used to the businnes world and its principles.

Nah, I wouldn't even have tried a wheelie on her scooter, but she was really holy on that scooter and would not allow anyone to even touch it 🤣

Hahaha, the bus might come in when we are at the train station at the other side of town 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, that's her plan. They have had some business training at school, but the real world is very different.

Good girl, I wouldn't let anybody except my mechanics drive with my bike, especially nobody who says he wants to try a wheelie, although he promises he won't 😂

Hopefully the bus driver knows where the correct station is 😁

Well as fathers we can only hope that they will get it right and it is always a surprise that they will do better than we could 🤣

Hahaha, I don't blame her and even my son in law would also not allow me to touch his bike.
He decided to get the Kawasaki 1000cc for his birthday, had one ride on it and came back shaking.
I don't know if he had any more rides, but I know that the bike is parked in his garage and now they want to sell it. A brand new bike.

Oy, we can only hope that the bus comes our way my friend 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

We can help them if they want help, and we can only hope that they do it better than us, as you say, but that will be easy for my kids 🤣

I have ridden such a sport bike once in my life and do not want to do it again, because it would mean my death because I wouldn't be able to stop or slow down...
If you don't feel secure you shouldn't ride, and maybe he should have started with a smaller bike to see if he likes it and when he feels confident he could change to a faster one.

Oh the bus will come, I am very sure. I only hope that I don't have to go to the toilet when he comes and miss it ;)

No, I don't think it is going to be easy to beat you, but I can guarantee that they will try and that will always be a good thing. All of my kids are trying and thank goodness they are doing well in the business world.

Not that guy Hannes, he is one of the types that are always trying to be a hero, but if you play with the big boys toys, it will soon show you up. Just a loud empty bag of wind 🤣

If he had to get a smaller bike all of his friends would laugh at him, so he had to buy the ultimate.
Besides he knew that I had a 650 cc, so he had to go bigger, but the difference is that I was happy with my bike, as it suited my purposes. Some will never learn.

Waiting for that bus my brother and don't worry, even if you had to wet your pants, you will get on it 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Yeah, I know such people - always the best and most expensive things, just to show they are better ... but it is mostly as you say - just a loud empty bag of wind 😁

I'm writing my replies using the middle monitor - to the left and to the right I can see the work I should do here ... can't the bus move a little faster? 🚌
