July 1, 21: Bit o’ DeFi, Dentist, TV, Laps, and Games
Well, today turned out to be a hell of a lot busier than I had planned…seems the wife planned the day for me. 😂
Up at four and a couple hours short on sleep. Woke up to find myself still completely dressed from yesterday. 😲 Passed out watching TV and didn’t even notice when Wenche came to bed.
Did the usual morning routine. Added checking in on Pirate Chain discord to the usual stuff…seems like it might have some potential and they’ve got an airdrop bot of their own (not tipCC)! 🤑
Was surprised to find that some of my curation payouts had turned to dust. 😭 Seems there had to be one glitch with the fork…people going around and voting posts from the week before the fork and messing up the curve. Luckily, it seems like it won’t affect author rewards.
Sounds like PeakD is making some tools to try and help to offset the losses, but I’m not going to worry about it too terribly bad, it sucks, but only temporary. The new curve and freedom to vote will more than make up for it.
It seems that the wife bought a new KIA last summer and it has been recalled for a fatal engine flaw, so I drove it in with her for it to be looked at first thing before she started work this morning.
Got back, did my post, and then decided to make some moves on Polydragon. I’ve been pulling the income out and depositing to Aave, but I changed my mind today and compounded into the pool. I do want to get some of that juicy APY, not just an APR. Definitely still losing on the tokens themselves, but patience is a virtue (hopefully).
It had been a while since Wenche had seen the dentist and I had my permanent crown waiting to be put in, so she had set up an appointment for us at noon. Basically did my post, staked some tokens, and then off we went (in the other direction).
She had her X-Ray and he looked around and said she was alright. 😲 I get the drill and she gets to walk away. 😛 Well, no drill today, and no numbing…he did offer, but I was trying to avoid it. Honestly, though, it hurt like fark every time he pulled the thing off or pressed it on, which ended up being a lot of times! Not to mention the water and air blowing on it.
I’m still adjusting to it and drinking hot coffee hurt like hell this morning, but I hope it’s just temporary. 🤞
Spent a bit of time in the garden once we got back. Peas and beans coming in nicely and the watermelon has gone for a walk (like literally it’s up on these vine stilts).
Not sure where the rest of the afternoon went…walked down to the bank and the dollar store, mucked about on Discord some, I guess. Anyway, had some soup for dinner and then went back in to pick up the car.
They’d only just gotten back the “results” and still didn’t even know whether or not the engine has to be replaced. They did, though, give her a loaner to use in the meantime, so that’s fine.
Plopped in front of the tube for a while. We had on some stupid kids show, but I was mostly fiddling with the phone anyway. Had several thousand steps left to go for the day, so I played Splinterlands and watched some YouTube videos while I did my laps to finish.
Once I got my steps done, it wasn’t long before I was out again.
Ooh! My bank got robbed and there’s a crisis. Oh, no, my pittance is cut yet in half again, what ever shall I do? Must needs buy some cards and combine some cards and buy more cards ‘cause more cards…😝
Decided to be somewhat more proactive on Holybread today and repaired all my items, even though they were still at about 40% and, since the bot is back, I decided to purchase some potions.
I didn’t get the most expensive ones that are completely unsustainable, but the cheapest ones for nine Bread, which is doable. Did it make any difference? No. 😡
Could not get my arena wins done regardless.
Even though I only lose to some in front by a tiny fraction, the potion did nothing to put me over the edge. Still maintaining sixth, though, so it’s not too bad.
I went in yesterday morning to CryptoBrewmaster and set the wrong task going. Needed yeast, but forgot about it for the rest of the day. I got the right one going now, so probably brew tomorrow if I remember it.
Cranking out missions on Rising Star. Getting a lot closer to unlocking the final mission in this region…probably going to have to look for some special cards to get to the next area.
Played a lot more Splinterlands than I even wanted to today.
Mostly back and forth win, lose. Got fed up and rage quit, but it aggravated me that I hadn’t finished the daily quest, so I played some more.
I did make some progress, though, eventually, and got up into Gold II:

I should play a little Splinterlands today. I only managed to hit Gold last season. I haven't played Holybread at all over the past few weeks.
