Proof of realness

REALNESS! the final frontier!

Often, when I browse the independent and decentralized network communities I am part of, the question of who the persons behind the profiles really are arises. For the most part it doesn't matter of course - this person calls himself @slobberchops - that person @nyarlathotep. I know something about them from their communication and that is really all I need to know. But sometimes it does matter if it is a man or woman, a human or a bot, an artist or a plagiarist. Especially when you work in my profession.

Being an artist working behind the protective wall of a pseudonym is one of the best setups I have had in my long career as an artist, but it does, and especially in these times of internet, create a necessity to once in a while prove that you are the creator of the works you present to the public. So about New Year last year, I decided (in a work induced endorphin intoxication) to create such a proof. I know that people here in general trust me, but as this place is full of newcomers and people who leave, I found it to be a good idea to let people make wishes for a drawing or painting they liked to see and then create that drawing or painting. Seemed to be a very good way to prove your skills.

Today I made the last drawing, and therefore I thought it better to wrap it all up in a post full of links to the original artworks and a bit of comments when I think something ought to be said.

You can see the original post here: From all of me to all of you! Free wish for a drawing.

Wish 1 - Tesla & Einstein in a Jacuzzi with hot babes

@roused sadly left the site. He is a brilliant writer specializing in music, but with a large common knowledge that Steemit for a while could benefit from. It was a fun digital painting to make.

Wish 2 - A spooky, haunted house

@marty-art is a great Belgian artist that makes some fascinating WWI inspired paintings. All very grey and brown. He haven't posted for three month, but I haven't given up on him yet. The haunted house painting looked like a front cover for a romantic pulp novel and I asked people to make up titles, which I in turn created small back cover synopses for. You can see the result in this post: The big Pulp title contest winner!!

Wish 3 - Phill with an apron, barbecuing. Possibly with other characters around him

Phill from GCHQ is a comic that I have been publishing here on Steemit since the very beginning in 2016. I am about to continue the story, but in the meantime I have been writing grant applications so I can print an album of the first 48 pages. Vincent (@vcelier) has been translating the comic into French, and his portrait is there together with my German translater @shortcut. I owe those two a lot!

Wish 4 - A pissed-off Cthulhu, a turtle, a rainbow, a giant gift-box and the number 23

This was one of the more complex as @nyarlathotep with whom I sometimes meet in a strange forest behind the Wall of Sleep sacrificing shrews, harvest mouse and little Greek hamsters to a very pretty Goddess with five eyes that has promised us... well, forget about that. In reality the rumours about us trying to end the world is just fake news that some Albanian hackers made up just before Trump got elected. We are just two nerds. Nothing to see here, move along!

Wish 5 - A Remake of my current profile picture

@luegenbaron had a simple wish. Make a new version of my avatar. Nobody said that it couldn't be useful. The original was a strange photo of Baron who had dressed up.

Wish 6 - A drawing of the two of us meeting, having a drink, listening to some strange music and making some art together

@shortcut has translated my comic into German and I am very grateful. So it was an honour and small payback to make this drawing. I have tried to make him look as close to the real person as possible so I scrutinized photos from the 2018 Steemfest and such. I added some naked dancers as I personally much prefer art with naked dancers.

Wish 7 - A cockroach in knight's armour and a female yoga teacher with a beautiful big ass.

@schabenstolz couldn't really decide if a cockroach in a knight armour or a voluptious, naked yoga teacher was best, so I volunteered to make a combo.

Wish 8 - The Root Beer Tapper guy in his bar with Ralph in the pic too maybe

@cryplectibles is one of the really old school Steemians and I was happy that he asked for a paiting. He sells vintage comic books for crypto and if you in any way are interested in comics you should follow! Interesting and strange comics show up on his profile and he is one of the stables of the little comic community here.

Wish 9 - Jesus Christ

This was a real challenge! Jesus Christ himself. I had a lot of thoughts about how to go about it and finished with this combining the three aspect where his face should have been.

Wish 10 - Blueberry and Lucky Luke in a fistfight

@skovclaude hasn't posted much yet, but I am sure he will in the future. He is one of the few Steemians I actually meet IRW and one who I have introduced to Steemit. As you can see European comics are something we have a common interest in, so much actually that we are making a comic together with a strange little man who calls himself Lill'Kim.

Wish 11 - Having tea on the bottom of the sea with Virginia Woolf and Isak Dineson (Karen Blixen)

And then many, many, many month passed and people strated to wonder if I had forgotten the whole thing. But yesterday I made this for the lady @donnadavisart who is a accomplished artist herself doing dogs and witches like no other. It was first when I saw that she had returned that I decided to finish the project. A literary piece in the style of Aubrey Beardsley.

Wish 12 - A mouse with a guitar

The last piece was made today, or actually most of it yesterday, but finished today. @steevc has been here a bit longer than I have and I like and respect his large work for this community. Glad that this last painting was for him - and of course it had a guitar in it.

So, is my realness now proven and indisputable? I most definitely think it is, but maybe I will, if I can manage it make another proof of realness in 2020.

Have you considered that things could have turned out quite peaceful and prosperous for you, saving your account and your investment if you took things a bit more coolly . That is how a real investor would do. Instead of throwing a tantrum like a five year old you could have simply said OK, circumstances have changed.

I am not going into a flagwar with you and nobody else are, really. You could simply change your behaviour and go on with the new state of affairs and your investment wouldn't be wasted. Things change and the ones that survive are the ones that adapt.

Revenge? Well if you really want revenge you need to have power, so even in that case you need to be calm and think things through. I can see that we have almost the same reputation and steem power. I worked really hard for this and I guess you did too. Take a breath and think about it.

Yes & you few nazis who think steemit is only for writers get my flag from now on. You ruin this investment for many as it will never compete with social media thanks to cunts like you.

HAHA, your mental breakdown is kind of condensing into those four letters. Why waste your time with this? that is what I don't understand! You are not an angel of vengeance, you are simply not rich enough to be that. More like a mosquito of vengeance.

It is obvious that you don't really know or understand that there has been some changes due to the hardfork. The large bid bots (except Booster and Fyrstikken) has done what you seem to be unable to do. They have changed strategy to protect their investment from all the small profiles that can now gang up on them. Due to the nature of Steem you can't touch their business in any other ways than going after their customers - that's people like you - and so that is what have been happening. You just got used to making crappy half hearted posts and then buying votes by the large whales that have abused this place. I don't pay them, but after the hardfork I have had upvotes from rocky1, tipu, smartsteem etc. They try to make money on voting for good content, and with the new hardfork, where curators get 50% of the reward, they are.

I have been extremely accommodating to you taking time to write this because it is clear you are hopelessly uninformed. So what is it going to be? infantile insults again?

Simply not rich enough yet I will delegate some SP and my downvote will help the reward pool more. I had a $10 post and it has 2 pictures I took flagged to under $4 & I am the problem?

I just read the post you made., and you seem to have gotten it wrong. The only reason you were downvoted was using bought votes. You can post whatever you like. But making a post where it is obvious that almost no effort was involved and then buying votes that far exceeds what honest working steemians get for post with a lot of effort, is of course angering people. If you didn't buy votes nobody would care one bit about the quality of your posts.

I thought my photograph was very nice so promoted it. If curators now take 50% of rewards that is a $5 post downvoted to $2... if that is too large a reward...

Promotion via the reward pool was close to destroying this place. I was about to leave as were many others. I do not really like to go after the junkie when it is the pusher that is destroying my city, but if that is the only way so be it. I know that the bidbots called it promotion, but in reality it was undermining the whole rewards system. So I will continue to fight bidbots, plagiarists and other abuse here, but apart from that I don't care what anybody post. Before the hardfork my drawings were awarded less than a dollar while some bloke in Bangladesh had made a bot-machine creating posts from wikipedia that automatically bought votes and reinvested it in even more automated posts. That is the reason I am downvoting posts "promoted" by bidbots.

Understood, i promoted my post to $10 & you were a part of the group taking it to under $4. It included original photography not a stolen wiki post. So 0 bid bot use is acceptable now?

Pretty much, yes. I know it comes through as a wild west posse... it is actually close to what it is. Angry citizens that want to set things right. Most of the people who use the Steemflagrewards haven't got much more steem power than you do. If you cool down I think things can go back to normal. New normal that is without bidbots. No need to throw your investment out the window.

People like you acting like a big boo-boo-kid are the root of the problem, not people like kathar who finds out about ur abuses.

A fine collection of works. It would be cool to have these on a gallery somewhere for Steemians to browse.

The diaspora profile I normally use for publishing my art is down sue to a virus in the admin and some hardware problems in his computer. It is one of the problems with federated networks that the instance you are using can stop its service. So now I plan to make a website with all my art, and still of course posts it here. I have so many projects in the month to come involving new websites so weøll see when this one is ready.

I was using Mastodon for a while, but the node shut down and I have not created another account elsewhere. I would hope the Steem blockchain will keep working for a while yet, but I have been on a few platforms that died. In some cases I was able to extract me data, but then I need to do something with it.

Well, maybe I do. I will have to use some time in jan-feb to make a Kickstarter for the first album of Phill, but I guess I could make another round of realness.
