Let’s Fly Away

You won’t catch me on an airplane anytime soon, but I will enjoy Let’s Fly Away by Connecticut Valley Brewery.

Poured into a trusty mason jar Let’s Fly Away had a semi-hazy somewhat muddled orange creamy look to it. It almost reminds me of a melted creamsicle. The beer has a solid level cap of fluffy and foamy white head which settled nicely to leave a concave rim of smooth soapy lacing.

The aroma had some sweeter orange pulp, pineapple and earthy bitter piney wood. I get a hint of grassy to lemon and some more woody hoppiness on the back end.

The flavor is nice to someone like me who likes a good amount bitterness in their beer. I'd say this one still has the New England styled qualities of some creaminess, but it leans heavy on the IPA with all the pine and bitter finish. It’s not so sweet or pillowy, but still has the citrus, pineapple and other assorted fruit. The aftertaste is one of my favorite parts because of the vibrant orange pulp and piney wood finish.

The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. I could probably drink a couple in a sitting. With a mild amount of carbonation and pretty appropriate ABV it’s a solid beer.

Overall, it’s a pretty nice IPA. Oops I mean NEIPA.

I might have to try this one. It looks like it would fit right in my wheelhouse. I am really excited to try the Two Hearted light that they have out now. That is one IPA that I am pretty okay with.
