All The Great Things We Could Do With Bezos' Money -- Wealth Inequality A Painful Simple Demonstration

Today I want to talk wealth inequality. I've been reading up a lot on this specific topic and how extremely (that's an understatement!, there is no suitable word for it!) skewed the situation is in the world.

We all heard about the Jeff Bezos' and Bill Gates' of this planet. Most of them all live in the US.

Example, the 400 richest Americans own as much money as the bottom 60%. Insane, if you'd ask me. I always thought about the most extreme forms of wealth inequality happened in medieval times. Where kings would live in castles, eat fresh food off gold plates and have a full staff of people taking care of everything, while peasants could hardly stay alive.

Well, the situation now might not be much different. I found a very interesting webpage today that shows the painful truth about health inequality. The webpages uses the simple concept of 1 pixel = 1000 dollars:

The webpage also shows the wealth of Jeb Bezos' and his wealthy friends in terms of pixels and compares it against all kinds of interesting metrics. I took some screenshots of the website and posted them below.

What if we would look at some more interesting figures. You can't even fill a Boeing 747 with the 400 people who on as much as 60% of the US:

We could use 3% of the top 400s wealth to better fight COVID19:

We could use 3% of the top 400s wealth get rid of all the trouble worldwide caused by Malaria:

We could use 5% of the top 400s wealth to solve poverty in the US:

And now let's bring out the big guns! What do you think can be done with 70% of the top 400s wealth...

A lot of good things indeed! And the totally crazy think about this, is that ALL of them would still be billionaires afterwards!

When will tax systems be designed for the people and not for the rich?
